you may have noticed Im an engineering freak..
I think we shall create a thread which dedicates itself to the wonders of the world.. theres a lot out there..
I will start with a natural wonder of the world... And its a worthy starter..
Trango Towers
doesn't look big does it? but the peak of this place is 6350 Metres high! The Petronas Towers in K/L Malaysia are around 1500 feet tall! Trango towers is just HUGE, and nothing looks more more formidible!

Natural wonders will always eclipse anything that can be made by man.
I studied Geology and Oceanography at university and it really does give you an entirely different look on the world. The awesome powers that are involved in creating the sites that we see around the world are simply mind blowing.
One of my favourites has always been the Caldera's (or super volcano if you watched the program)
Their size is just unimaginable. The perfect example was when scientists were finding igneous (volcanic) rocks in Yellowstone park but couldnt work out why becuase there was no volcano in the area. It wasnt until orbital satellites took a picture of yellowstone park that they realised the volcano mouth was the park itself. A volcano some 77 Km across!!!!!
The tv program recently highlighted this and although reasonable close to the truth missed a few points. The main one being that if this thing goes off again it will wipe out life in the Americas all together

Anyone who survives will probably wish they hadn't... so much ash will be in the air that the sun's rays won't be able to penetrate... crops will be ruined and the earth's temperature will plummet...

yip, and that cloud would likely cover the earth for in the region of 3 years. For those who wanna see just how big this caldera is on a map take a look at the following.
