Have to admit I don't remember it from the original series - just checked and I was only 3 years old when it finished!

Aside from the all-important theme tune my abiding memory of The Waltons was one of being freaked out. John Boy was experiencing poltergeist activity ... chairs rocking, dolls moving, mirrors steaming up, and of course pebbles bouncing of the roof into his bedroom in chilling slow motion.
Spooked the hell out of me. I didn't know about ergotism at the time.

John Boy reminds me of that Family Guy part
"Goodnight, John Boy!"
Goodnight John Boy......"
.................
"John Boy..............?"
"JEEZ! CAN'T A GUY MASTURBATE IN PEACE IN THIS HOUSE????"
That made me laugh
