Maybe, just maybe some people like the taste of these drinks. I love a pint of guinness, also i like drinking san miguel with a slice of lime in cos it tastes good. Not because i want to scare flies away or look cool but simply because i like the taste.Matty wrote:I knew that aswell! Same with guiness it takes long time to pour so it becomes a novelty and trendy!Next on the alchol seen is Brahma, brazzilian lager with lime
But hey what can we do?
Magners Rant
It is an image thing - "ooh, lets all get the new drink - cider is the way forward". Really annoys the g/f as she's always liked her ciders (although Strongbow, Blackthorn and Woodpecker really aren't nice!) so she goes to Wetherspoons as they alwasy have a good selecion of quality pints. Then people say 'you're only drinking them beacause it's the new fad'. Sets her right off!
I did have a couple of Magners on Saturday night and it was nice and refreshing but not really my cup of tea. The moment has to be right.
A PROPER cider should be nearly flat and only slightly chilled. As with lagers, the coldness and fizziness (not a word of a lie) are purely there to hide the drinks real taste. Know anyone that likes flat, warm beer? I fully understand what you're on about though. Aftershock went through a similar phase a few years back.

all this 'traditional' way of serving over ice is pap. its an invented way of serving cider cold to compete with the 'extra cold' and 'ice' lager brands.
its about as traditional as happy slapping

A fine English tradition indeed! Word has it that after an evening imbibing in the finest mead, local dignitaries would gather to attack a complete stranger while the designated photographer prepared to capture the hilarity in glorious sepia, via his camoflaged box-brownie!
