I'm off !

Post by petera »

Hmmm where to start?

This forum used to be a really good laugh with good mods who would let a thread run its course.
This has been replaced by people being threatened with violence and mods locking threads for no real reason.
Along with the violence we have the highly illegal continued chat about tooling complete with pictures of what certain tools of the trade look like !
Neither the violence nor the tooling get deleted or even thread locked !
and of course the people behind the threats etc dont even get a warning !.

Its now basically a complete waste of time in here as it gets taken over by thugs , thieves and wannabees and in the main modded by idiots.
Ive had fun in the past and I am certain I will not be missed by many and some will even be dancing in the streets tonight.
If anyone would like to keep in contact I can be mailed at
isnapped@yahoo.com

Anyway.... To the admin its a shame you let this forum go to pot and please delete me at your leisure

To the rest of you ....Be Lucky !!!

The site is fine, stop being so paranoid and thinking the world is against you chap. Fruitchat will live on if you stay or go, your choice.

Since your date of joining, to the present day, the only change to the team of moderators has been the addition of H2. That is unless you used to read the board as a guest and signed up this summer and are referring to pre July 2008.
You are quite right about the lax moderation of the recent influx of postings relating to 'tooling'. I apologise for this, and will endeavour to stringently enforce the rule relating to this topic from now onwards.

Just as a reminder,

"Illegal Methods. Under no circumstances may you post about making money from machines using illegal methods. This includes, but is not limited to, vandalising machines and breaking into them (known as tooling). Any mention of this type of activity will be frowned upon, your post will be deleted and at the discression of the administrator you may be banned."

You also mention threats of violence, which ties in with the puerile nature of a fair few posts made recently. Once again, this has been noted as a major issue and will be dealt with accordingly. I've left many 'violent' postings stand as they are, being as they just border on puerile and silly, rather than violent. However, puerile postings in particular and to some degree silly postings are not welcome and you should notice a more proactive level of moderation in regards to these posting attributes, in the future.

I'll decline to comment on locking threads since I have locked no threads, since becoming a moderator in late June 2008.

Many postings and threads do get deleted and many people do get warnings. This is to be expected on an Internet forum where people can type from their innermost psyches within the sanctuary of their own homes. What you see on these pages is just the tip of the iceberg. It's a trimmed privet hedge, the final edit. You would be forgiven however for thinking this is not the case. We have been deluged with lowbrow postings recently. As a moderator, I have to tread a fine line between letting what might be an enjoyable argument for many people run its course AND deletion of childish mud slinging. Petera you're definitely guilty of loving a good argument on Fruitchat and some may say you were bullying HRK at points, who also loves to dish out his own brand of insults. These threads were allowed to run in the nature of comraderic cajoling and this decision was based partly on HRKs projected boistrous lairy nature on this forum (he gives it out, so he should be able to take it as well). You can see it's a fine line we have to tread and sometimes being a moderator isn't all about black and white, delete or no delete?

If people want to read the rules, there is a 'sticky' (no smut please) version in the lounge.

I don't believe this forum has gone to pot. There are still many good discussions to be found. I myself have been mainly posting in the technical forum this week and have had excellent support from other fruit chatters. I see Slammer posted a beating on Hi/Lo Silver in the Red forum and this raised many a good point and was an interesting read.

Anyhow all the best with being a lucky, responsible gambler and take care.

Don't think that was his point Matt, he was simply concerned about the contence of recent posts, Fruit chat will carry on no matter who leaves.... Some will be missed more than others, but in the end, every one that goes is forgotten about.

Although i dont agree with big fanfair good bye's, in my eyes if your gunna go, then just leave quietly, but i do feel for the bloke, constant battles with hrk, having post after post destroyed by snide remarks, and threads taken over with nothing more than, " pass the popcorn" sure it would break most part timers into thinking fuck that, iv'e had enough.

His words do ring true, maybe not to the extent of his post, but it has to be worth the staff here sitting down and investigating? How long will it be before this place gets tarred with the same brush as arcadia?

This place will never be arcadia, thankfully. 8)

All you have to do is not cause arguments and pettiness by making snide comments or saying anything untoward towards people, then problems don't arise. Unfortunately the world doesn't spin that way and never will, but it's a nice utopian thought anyway. These pointless slanging matches with Mr HRK are pretty much all self inflicted anyway. I guess the only positive is if you remove one half of the argument, then the other half goes too.
