The word nephritis popped into my head, but I'm not sure if it is a word.
If it isn't, I'll guess nepotism.

nepotism is correct, both from the latin nepos meaning grandson so lots of bastardization going on there. over to the chief minister.

I know this is more than likely wrong, and i'd get the hooter on QI...
Theres that old tale of it coming from ships, with it being an acronym for Port Out, Starboard Home (the best way to travel on a ship for comfort)
Please tell me i'm wrong

Yeah I always thought it was Port Out, Starboard Home, which meant those cabins always got the best of the Sun at the right times etc.. so the cabins were dearer. There is now a klaxon sounding and a studio audience is laughing at me.
Still kicking about.

Posh is actually an old slang word for money, and there is no recorded instance of upper-class people having their tickets stamped with POSH...
Of course, the more suspicious amongst you might accuse me of not actually knowing this until someone pointed out that POSH isn't an acronym at all. But since you have absolutely no basis for allegations, I'll ask you to keep your petty sni..
Anyway! Over to UP since he was closest.

Seeing as national flags arent historically that old, i'm going for Norway....seeing as they decided to try and rule the world at one point!
