I think that's as close as anyone's going to get. And you did get the shirt colours correct.
I was after Newton Heath L&YR F.C., the L&YR standing for Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, as they were formed as the works team of the depot at Newton Heath.
When they thought about renaming themselves after avoiding bankcrupcy in 1902, they found that Manchester City had got there first in 1894. So, after rejecting Manchester Central and Manchester Celtic, Louis Rocca, a young immigrant from Italy, said "Gentlemen, why don't we call ourselves Manchester United?" And the rest is history etc.
And of course, Newton Heath was one of the names put forward for the new club that eventually end up as Football Club United of Manchester.
