Had this on a quizzer the other day...

I think the choices were Ash, Oak and Beech - I went for oak and can't remember if I got it right or not, so I'll just guess it again.

Fair enough, but you might be better going with Mainwaring than Le Mesurier.

You're not right, but it does have something to do with Hyacinth's son...

I was going to say it's to do with the pronunciation of the surname.

Mainwaring - "Mannering"
Bucket - "Bouquet"

But now you mention her son "Sheridan"... ... ...

you never see mainwearing's wife, and afaik you only ever saw sheridan once. not sure about the other shows but that's my guess.
