I'm going to give it to Matt.

Mrs Mainwaring and Sheridan were never seen.... nor was Niles' first wife or Al Borlands mother (You're thinking of Wilson who never had his face fully shown)...

From me, To you MattV

Ah, kindest thanks! Right...

...Two of my favorourite comedians from the 20's and 30's often frequent my dvd player when I'm bored; one thin, one slightly bigger. What is the link between the films of these two and an extremely famous yellow cartoon family of today? ;)

laurel & hardy?
when the villain got stimied (yet again) he would say doooooooooooooooooh.
when whoever plays homer gets the script the d'oh is represented as <annoyed grunt>. originally the voice actor wanted to copy said villain's noise but was told that it took too long so he shortened it to the familiar d'oh.

You couldn't be more correct!

James Finlayson would be the villain! ;)

HMP Slade, unless you mean the name of the prison they used for filming. ;)

Slade was what I was looking for, but if you know the actual prison used for filming I'd be interested to know which :D

Maidstone Prison apparantly (just looked it up - after I answered ;) )

Who can tell me how many times Ian Hislop, the current editor of Private Eye and one-time "most sued man in English legal history", has won a court case?
