UP is of course correct- the other two that always feel v nearby on foot to me are

Embankment and Charing X
Mansion House and Cannon Street

Not sure what er is but if Euston Sq would have said thats nearer to Euston than Kings X

UP as you are an expert perhaps you can give us a top 3??

i'm only an expert (such as it is) on the piccadilly line so couldn't elaborate across the network. but there used to be a station for the british museum which was about 20cm from holborn station. it is all to do with when the lines were owned by individual companies who had carte blanche to do as they pleased. i'll stop there as it could become very tiresome.

next one:
this is adapted from a mensa question and i don't think it has been on here before:

these four men are in gaol stood in the formation as shown.

Image

each knows he is one of four prisoners each of whom is wearing one of four hats (two white, two black). none can see his own hat, over the wall or turn around.
the guard has told them that if one of them can tell him what colour hat each of the four is wearing he will set them free otherwise they will all be executed.

which man speaks and how does he know?
nobody ever wins on those things.

Probably too obvious....

Person A? I don't know how high the wall is, but can't he sneak a peek over the top, then deduce his hat colour from the other 3?

I think the answer is C.

D can see one of each colour and is therefore flummoxed. However, C can only see 1 white hat. He knows that if he too had a white hat on, then D would deduce that he had a black hat. However, since D has said nothing, C knows that he must have a different colour hat on from B.

Therefore C knows he has a black hat on.

Indeed it would be shooting fish in the proverbial if I answered, I'll give it till noon tomorrow to let our friends south of the border (or any hidden scots out there) a shot.

Fuck, I can't help it, it's the nickname for the Glasgow Underground.

(Sorry one who pays homage to the washer of pots.)

EDIT: And it's orange!

EDIT # 2: Stuart just couldn't hold it in. Over to you sir.

Thanks Cardinal.

Question: What is the maximum length in words of the shipping forecast?

A couple of helpers...

I'll set a range of 50-850 words, and the answer is a round number (i.e. ending in zero).

Would it be 1 word per area? There are about 20 areas, so I'll guess 100
