Yup, good old Calcium Carbonate!

I used to eat sticks of chalk when I was at school, perhaps that's why I'm always board...

(I'll get my coat, and anyone else if they want it?)

:)

Oops. Sorry Weyland, it is chalk / limestone / calcium carbonate.... next time you have heartburn, just buy a packet of chalk, and save yourself a big wad of cash.

Over to you!

dammit why wasnt i around earlier for this one. My job inlvoves gastroenterology and specifically reflux (heartburn/acid)

if you do get regular acid dont use antacids, they could hide an underlying problem, ask your doc for a PPI, problem solved :)

Thats the proper name of the big gherkin shaped building London (perhaps the Mc D's clue? :wink :)

I only happen to know as i did the 110% touristy thing and took a boat trip from Westminster to Tower Bridge in August last year. The name just sort of sticks in your head as its so odd.

MattB has it. It is informally known as "The Gherkin", and sometimes as The Swiss Re Tower, Swiss Re Building, Swiss Re Centre, or just Swiss Re, after its owner and principal occupier.

The sub-editors at The Guardian newspaper coined the term "erotic gherkin" for the building, based on the original plans. Although those were abandoned, the nickname has stuck. It has also been called the "Towering Innuendo", and the "Crystal Phallus".

I can only assume that "Axe" stands for "annexe" or something. Weird. ;)

Over to Matt...

not slang, it is to do with what you can add to the name on your chum's school books.
nobody ever wins on those things.
