It wa snot always like this however- what (approximately) was the £:€ rate when the Euro was adopted by the continentals back in 2002?

think it was about the same as the dollar so 1.75 to the pound?

It was actually 1.6 which meant that a £100 meal cost £62 rather than pretty much the £100 it costs now.
