It matters not, you were right the first time. James I (I did specifically say English King, not Scottish ;) ) is the one. In 1620, with better models demonstated in 1624.

Take it awaaay...

Not sure which movement and the only hoax I can think off is that fairies at the bottom of the garden thing- I'm gonna guess Church of the Latter day saints (mormons) as period seems about right ?

The Cottingley Fairies were a hoax, but I don't think they'd constitute a religion per se.

Cue Airplane joke about not calling you Percy.

Anyway, Mormons were the right period, wrong religion.

Wasn't it the one that Arthur Conan Doyle patronised in the early 20th century, some sort of fake medium scam that took in millions of gullible folk ?

Oh well, I'll just give it to you anyway, just to prevent UP from getting it. ;)

The answer you were looking for was Spiritualism. It was invented by the Fox sisters, and despite its influence spreading throughout the world, they simply simulated knocking sounds by clicking a bone in one of their feet. By the time the truth was out, thousands of people were already firm believers in all that hocus-pocus.

Over to you Henry
