It is, though the question was a bit ambiguous.

Super Mario Bros was the best selling, as it was bundled with the NES console... in that respect, Minesweeper / Solitaire are probably the best "selling" games.

For game sales alone, the highest seller is Super Mario Bros 3...

but anyway,

I figured it would be one of SMB or Sonic the Hedgehog.

Staying with the Video game theme then, over here it was known as the Sega MegaDrive, in the USA it was known as....?
