Okay, my last one was about Wetherspoons pubs, so who can tell me the name of the original pub in the Firkin chain?

You and me both UP.
Er, no idea. Do they still have Firkin pubs? The Fitter and FIrkin near me closed down years ago.
Anyway, I'm guessing "The Firkin Barsteward"

God knows, all the ones up here are owned by the Scream chain now. But I like the name.
Anyway, both wrong. Clue: Being the first, it doesn't
quite follow the usual naming convention.

If UP can flout convention and have multiple stabs, so can I.
Golden Eagle?
Goshawk?
Gannet?
(oystercatching oystercatcher was actually a made-up bird that appeared in a question on WWTBAM)

Incredibly enough, all wrong, so let's turn this into a hangman game...

Correct! The Goose and Firkin, Southwark, opened in July 1979. Now named The Duke of York and owned by Shepherd Neame.
UP has the floor...

wahey
okay statistically, which property on a monopoly board offers the best %age of returns on houses/hotels?
clue: in real life you could not build any houses or hotels here.
