I'll go for Brand's Hatch, due to similar ill-thought out logic.

Not sure Bootham Crescent will have hosted too much international sport.

Re the polluted logic, something to do with York railway museum?

Wrt Brands Hatch not that either but I am guessing Scalextric comes into the logic on that one.

The Hornby link relates to a former competitor of the particular sport staged at the ground.

The name Geoff Hornby rings a bell, cricket i think? So we'll take a stab at Lords - although this could all be bullshit.

getting warmer but never heard of Geoff Hornby. This particular Hornby was A N Hornby and the subject of a famous (ish) poem. He also presided over one of Englands most famous sporting defeats.

It is little I repair to the matches of the Southron folk,
Though my own red roses there may blow;
It is little I repair to the matches of the Southron folk,
Though the red roses crest the caps, I know.
For the field is full of shades as I near a shadowy coast,
And a ghostly batsman plays to the bowling of a ghost,
And I look through my tears on a soundless-clapping host
As the run stealers flicker to and fro,
To and fro:
O my Hornby and my Barlow long ago !

Nice work Hazza- I will be particularly impresed if you recited that off the top of your head (I once had a client that did and Id never heard of the poem until then).

Looking at it there is a pretty obvious clue in the verse.

Agh, I know AN Hornby - he was England Cricket Captain at the match that gave birth to The Ashes. God knows which ground though. Must be the Oval if it's not Lords.

Yep is indeed OT. Used to be well chuffed to sit in the Hornby stand as a nipper.
