Yep- it was the Brits last night which AFAIAA passed without too much controversy.

Previous famous incidents include wannabee anarchists Chumbawumba soaking Prescott with some icy water and Jarvis' piss taking of Wacko Jacko. However, which act caused a real storm in 1992 by firing blanks from an automatic weapon and leaving a dead sheep at the scene of the after show party?

The KLF, during their performance of 3AM Eternal with Extreme Noise Terror. Originally they were going to disembowel the sheep on stage, but ENT, who were all vegetarian, vetoed that idea.

(Sorry, big fan of the KLF in my youth :) )

Yes spot on they won Best British Act that year.

Was listening to the White Room this morning on the way in and its surprisingly timeless IMO. Could definitely give some of your modern fangled purveyors of house a run for their money.

Their wikipedia entry also makes for interesting reading (refernces to the Illuminati etc) if you were into that sort of thing.

All that KLF stuff was going on while I was at uni, so I was pretty into it all, yeah. You do embarassing things when you're young. :)

Which band, formed in 1972, had previously been known as The Strand and The Swankers before achieving fame and notoriety?

I was at school which means I am either younger than you or you were a child prodigy

Anyway re The Strand, I would say one of the punk acts. Let's go with The Clash?
