Amicus and Tigon were film studios in the Hammer Horror vein, but I've not heard of one called Tyburn.

Weyland is correct. Tyburn made a few obscure films in the 1970's such as The Ghoul, Legend Of The Werewolf and Persecution.

Given the recent news, I've just spent twenty minutes looking for a question on Jeremy Beadle. But it seems he really wasn't interesting enough!
So, instead I'll ask, what actually
is a Tigon?

Nearly right, you need to be more specific.

The offspring of a male lion and a female tiger is indeed called a liger.
Tiger and dragon is not correct either.

Yup. Specifically the offspring of a male tiger and a female lion, which is why I had to get pedantic earlier. Also known as a Tiglon. Your go!

okay, we say "say cheese" the french say "dit cerise" (cherry) when taking happy snaps.
neither cheese nor cherries have anything to do with photography so why do we say those words?
nobody ever wins on those things.

No idea and feel a bit harshly treated on the last one (ps Kai dragon's are extinct).
How about its something to do with the muscles required to produce the sound of the word force the mouth into a smiley shape.
Or alternatively it is purely an arbitrary choice of word designed to relax the subject.

Sorry NM, but I really couldn't give it to you - the answer you gave could have been either a tigon or a liger. Pub Quiz wouldn't have given it to you either.

Funnily enough, sad man that I am , on the way in this morning I too thought up a Beadle question which I decided I would ask if succesful in the Phoenix today:
Jeremy famously had a withered hand, what is the medical name for his ailment?
Weyland if you were looking round for a question, you may already have the answer.
