Not Laika I'm afraid. She was the first animal to be put in orbit. But there were some dogs before who did make it to space but not orbit!

Pluto, 1930.

Although thinking about it Canis Major preceded that by quite a time.

Quite, but they weren't shot from Earth! lol so I'm sorry but it wasn't what I am thinking of lol...No real trick questions here, just the prediction the Laika would be first guess

Here's a hint. There were at least 2 canines on the crew

Think its fair to say that the only way anyone would know is by asking the big all knowing google.

I consulted my Vital Statistics book I have :p

The answer was, dogs Trygan and Dezik were the first in space in 1951. They were both USSR like Laika was and They survived the trip, sadly unlike the first monkey.

Whoever wants to jump in feel free

Not according to my answer.

To give a clue: Newcastle played them in the UEFA cup (in the 94-95 season if my memory serves me correctly).

Athletic Bilbao is indeed the correct answer, obviating the need for me to mention that they wear red and white stripes (copying 5under1and IIRC).

Mr Monkey it's all yours...

Struggling for a decent question at the moment. Suspect that this one will be straightforward based on the the psychological profiling I have performed on Phoenix participants.

I was at the PDC world darts over Christmas and this year they had erected huge banners with giant size portraits of ll of the past winners. Needless to say there weren't many banners. Name all of the men who have won the PDC to date?
