My first question on the quiz forum.

To hear it from the right is lucky, to hear it from the left is unlucky. To hear it whilst standing on grass is good, but on shingle or mould is bad. If you have money in your pocket at the time it will multiply, otherwise you will lose. Most importantly the number of repeats forecasts the years of a life to come, or some may think it indicates the years before matrimony.
A long time ago, in some places, it was customary to lay down tools and spend the rest of the day feasting.

Money? Multiply? Repeats? I'm not talking standard FC fayre here, this is something entirely different. The question is, what am I talking about? As a further clue, at this time of year, it will have already been heard by many.
