Dunno where that came from- must have been an SWP one at some point.

Anyway bit scrapped for time today so I will go for a fairly straight forward one.

Many of you will be familiar with the fact that the Mohs scale is used to measure hardness and that diamond as the hardest scores 10. What however is the softest registering 1 on the scale?

Is it not Talc / Talcum?

Yet again HE is quickest on the buzzer with the science question. I was originally going to ask what is second hardest at no 9 on the scale but that can wait for another day.

Anyway all yours.

Just as well you didn't, cos I've no idea what no 9 is!

Sticking with chemistry, what is the lightest / least dense metal in existence?

it was a (probably scientifically inaccurate) sequence of radioactive decay.

i think we might have had this before but which three different animals can be called a cob?

We have had this before, it took up an entire Phoenix with obvious clues before I finally got it right.

I'll let someone else hack about in the rough for a while though...

(male) swan is right. i have no idea about ferrets; isn't that some kind of northern monkey?

it sounds like His Eminence is holding the ace of clubs here.

one other is knowable (there is a question on SWP about it for a start) the third requires some lateral thinking.

I'm sure there is a fish called a cob. Maybe a bird/horse as well.

Hornby already got the bird (swan) but i'll give you horse (specifically small ponies etc.)
one to get.
