but this or something very very very similar was in my local arcade crystals by bus station (gone now) back in 1986

Crystals? I can remember a night club called Crystals (now zanzibar) near the bus station - St Margarets? (not Haymarket), but an arcade?!? It didn't change from arcade to nightclub did it?
Pre my Leicester days.
Go fishing lol. Another favourite of mine was Puffing Billy.
