I dont know why, but yesterday the name just popped into my head. Round our way, there used to be a fair few BWBs about and i remember them as being pretty good. Did they have something to do with Barcrest?

But were they actually connected to Barcrest? What did BWB stand for?

Bonner, Willson, and Bonner - The blokes who set up the company.
Bonner and Bonner were Father and Son. Company was sold to Barcrest, and in time became Vivid.

Still owned by Barcrest.

Yep, it was..

as were the clones, including Heaven and Hell. I used to like Volcano and the one I think they called Pyramid. Red sky at night, players delight ...

There used to be a re-worked Arabian Knights in the arcade near Dartford station, as I'm sure someone over that way will remember.

Whilst they did make some cracking machines, some of the £5JP's they made were utterly shit, the main offender being championship soccer.

Although saying that the £5 PCB where the cherries were 20p more than made up for it, in my opinion the BB/frenzy/PCB games where the lowest win was £1 made them completely unplayable.

i have fond memories of bwbs ,in the golden days (olden days)used to love the gamble from 4p to 1.50 lol.
10 pound challenge (swp chase the lady) was superb for profit for the first 12 months. used to get up to 30 quid from these regually.(yarmouth had 13 of these)
a machine on site test in felixstowes carousel in the mid to late 80s ,called secrets. it advertised that it had secret tricks built in(ironically) that improved the players chances of winning  about 11 of these "tricks" but i can no longer recall exactly. anyway, you could "exchange" a cherry 20p win for a skillcash to jp (slow to med speed ) you could force cherries aswell  ,we didnt care about leaving any money in it ,and got greedy, thus it never passed site test :(

bwb used to rock.
