Dodgy % stickers
Dodgy % stickers
I have a machine in a local arcade (big chain) sticker that claims to pay 92% payout. I know this particular game quite well and think I have been had. I have a very strong suspicion the percentage has been lowered to 70%ish. The only way I can get proof of this is by getting someone to call up the target % on the LED.
It'll either say 92% in which case I'll have knowledge that this game can hide % like I didn't think was possible or it'll show the offending target %. If and I strongly suspect it WILL show a significantly lower %, what action would you take?
If I am refused to be shown the target % and someone disappears into the cash office and comes back and says 'oh no, it's on 92%' what would you think to that?
Any clues, hints, tips and emptiers on this please?

Ask politely for the manager to show the target percentage. if you are a regular they may well oblige. After all, he/she is merely managing the place and is on a salary, so profit is less immaterial to him/her.

Come on you Royals
I had a continental style cafe bar open near me about 18 months back with an austin powers in there, when i first played it and it rolled i held out for the austin danger powers mega, as you do, this went £75, so a nice £100 roll including the first £25, i made good money on this machine for about 5/6 months, then one day i noticed the the outer casing/trim had been swapped, and ever since then it refuses too go over £25 on the austin mega, so i come too the conclusion that when they swapped the trim they lowered the percentage [some people believe they chipped them not too £100 roll, some don't] , i even left it for a month hoping for the streak pot too build but it still would'nt go over £25, i still play it for the £50 roll but it can take the piss. it has'nt got a sticker on it and i think its privately owned, it claims too be on 78% but i doubt it.

I've seen it before. IN fact in the same city there used to be a Sonic The Hedgehog which claimed 78% payout on the front, but the LED showed 74% on start up. That's another good thing about those old JPMs. A good clear indication of % on start up. Same arcade as tha p5 if you're wondering, hope you made good and proper off that!
Anyway, I feel pretty confident there has been a reduction of % on this game, more so than 4% of the advertised percentage. I mean I could be totally wrong, but I really don't think after playing it out this game can hold on to % to the extent it appears to have done, assuming 92%. Sure a bit of drift each way is to be expected, but not on this magnitude.
Mr Harry, you're an expert on this sort of thing, in fact you seem to thrive on it. I'm aware they're within their rights to set a machine to 70% or greater and I'm aware that having 92% displayed on a sticker, should the machine's % be lower than that, is definitely unethical and contravenes the BACTA code of conduct, BUT is it actually ILLEGAL to claim an average payout of 92% with a machine running at a lower target percentage? I intend to ask shortly.
Cheers, one unhappy JG.

I'm not interested in the running percentage, I shall be enquiring about the target % viewable via LED with cash door open. If it IS at 92% then obviously there is a lump in hiding. It's just question of when the lump will dump, although I think it has had plenty of opportunity to dump a lump already. I'll keep you all posted.
Of course they will!!!
I have an old Leisure Link Red. On the cab it states the standard 78% but the %age key inside is a terrible 72%.
JG - If the GGG is constantly getting whacked by players in the know, the LES run is always terrible. The machine tightens up so bad because %age wise there is nothing for it to give. A few quick boards close together often result in a suck of £50+ or a total dissappearance until sufficient credits have been played through.
GGG's(standard versions) can't be set below 80% via dips, %age key's presumably are available tho. Most are 88-92 which in unhit areas is massive trust me.

I might drop you a PM, K. Sod it, I'll cut and paste the one I sent to Dunhanzznznzzmmzz and see what you think. I'm all for the odd ropey Les Dennis disappearing into thin air, but this was stepping up to a whole new level of hoarding.....OR WAS IT????

I've been playing Red Hot X on the emulator set to 98%. It plays like a dream. I replay it to death and sometimes if things take an age to show, you can get a couple of run downs leaving the machine with a fair +ve drift. With sensible play however you should be looking at something near % within a K cycled, easy.
I'll post the result tomorrow. I'm guessing it'll be refusal to show the LED, but if I do see it and it is target 92% then I'll post it as that, fair and square and you can't say fairer than that. This company is currently operating a cat C Rainbow Riches at 84% on 50p play. Not good. Not even in the same postcode as good. Thanks for playing. This DVD cost you money, so I'd advise selecting play again from main menu.
