Monster Cash

A new (or maybe on test) machine that I stumbled across last night:
It's a Games Media machine, and I didn't like it. Yes Ob, you heard me correctly!
Same concept as usual, except that the 'shot' squares change colour and a 'Zone' square dictates which shot box you're shooting at. The zones are Cash Shots, Feature Shots (couldn't tell which one was the Evil Streak equivalent, sorry ...) and WinSpin Shots. Getting into the inner level meant the addition of Super Shot squares.
So what was different?
Well, the prizes are the same as usual but it seemed much harder to know where you stood; I got the top feature red 3 times yet there was no build-up to any of them - I was never offered the 15 winspins or the £15 or £35 cash shots - it just landed on it naturally. The centre Cashpot is different because once you enter that level, it simply flashes on cash values and adds them - theres no trail to move around or squares to hi/lo on - it decides what to award and then dumps you out via one of two arrows.
All in all - £150 odd in, for two £35 tops and one £70 top. Not a disaster, but not exactly a fun game.

I will try and return there and snap a pic - there was also a new Barcrest in there that I didn't recognise. Sadly there were two people playing it the whole time I was in the pub, so I didn't get much of a view.

OK so these things are appearing in pubs en mass now; and they're not good.
They seem to play to a very different profile - hardly ever going big off the top - instead they seem to like doing flat tops with another one £10 later and if ready, another 3 or 4 boards later. There's little or no indication that this thing is nearing readiness, making life harder.
I have still never been awarded the £35 or 15 winspin shots, which you might expect to see in the build-up to a top feature. Above all else, the game isn't much fun - and the changing colour squares just becomes annoying after a while.
I'm consistently losing every time I give one a chance, so it's rapidly heading for my 'avoid' list.

Dig up old thread....
One of these here now. Played it the other day and didn't think much of it. Had a board today and was a bit stunned to start in level 2 and have the first shot offered as MS! Denied this and a £15 shot that board and forced it. Cost about £55 to go in for a £70 with no afterplay. Was a bit annoyed as i was expecting a £105 from taking that long from MS and £15 shot ready from the off. Just your typical Games Media Fayre i suppose, with a slight twist. Middle pot seems a bit tighter, not too keen on the shots instead of sqaures.

My pal had 105 streak but he put 57 in to get it. It offered him red mega 1st pound, knocked it back and was shitting his sen for a bit cos it went stone.

I played this for the first time a couple of days ago and made a small profit from it. Never liked the way it kept changing the colours on the zone square, tbh I never knew where I stood. And I'm sure 15 winspins would try and f*ck you off with £7.50-10.00.

same old, same old.... more bucks than global imo... (ie. worse tops, less randomness/cost)

Keep finding this (plus a new one yesterday) ready here now, and keep doing well at present. Maybe the added 50p/+6% is helping things along. Chased 3 from 4 strikes this week, one did a quick £70, the other two £35 with a £70 soon after. all 3 returned profit, maybe £20-£30 per machine. It's a bit more obvious when really ready i think, as it seems to block anything decent at all when dead. £5rp, 7-8+ winspins and a good super KO gets me interested. Will report back once i've had a few more attempts, bound to get burnt sooner or later.

I took 7 winspins, it span in one line of cherries 7 times, took a ten pound cashpot next pound though, all this off the change of a pint so not too bad at all.

Thats the thing with this you get 15 winspins and think yer im in the money here! it then continues to roll in 50p after 50p after 50p. *yawn* 50p - £1

- 50p - £1.50 -

- 50p and so on. I think its a poo machine and dont like the whole changing zone thing.

Well the simple answer to that would be don't take 15 winspins. It needs to be flying to even offer that, so just chase it instead. These games media clones actually tend to streak pretty big, so go down that road.

Agreed, Matt. This is perhaps THE saving grace of Games Media machines - that they DO streak big when they streak! I don't think I've ever had less than a £70 top from one.
All in all, I'm just getting so tired of companies churning out clones. Other perhaps than Barcrest and Red, all the manus just cant be arsed to develop anything new (3rd telephone symbol or a spot of Happy Jailbird's Daunting, anyone)?
GM machines bore me shiteless now. More like Games Tedium than Games Medium.

It was playing well but it started turning nasty and i didnt have the cash to bash the monster cash so took the 15winspins. It was boring the f**k out of me after half hour so ended up walking away £20 up so still a profit.
