We all know that BFG have milked, and still continue to milk the DOND theme for all its worth, clone after clone after remake, then barcrest and mazooma started cottoning on to the box game thing with its amazing and the endless monopolys etc..

So, my general thoughts are, when are we gonna finally see a different concept / style of game to machines, as DONDs are bloody everywhere and while they can be good, walking into arcades your heart can sink sometimes when you are greeted with the entire back catalogue of the beardy twat themed machines plus clones dominating the floor.

So although i very rarely play that much myself, i cant help but wonder, its gotta happen soon as they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel now arent they, DOND gold, whats next, silver, bronze, yellow, blue, orange, purple, black, best of DOND, DOND limited edition, when will it end? and more to the point, what will the next style of machine be??

Heh!

Thinking back over the last few years, I guess it's reall only Barcrest who have done any slight innovation. They had their VIUs, TAWs, Amazings, (OK, a nod towards DOND, there), ESBs and Reds and others that were, albeit crap: OTB, etc.

BFG - almost every game hinges on the DOND 'idea' - be it a DOND themed machine or Monopoly or something else. Anyone seen Wacky Races? Dream Factory, but without the DOND game?!

No doubt we will continue to see DOND games, even if they are not DOND themed (if it's true that Barcrest now have the license?)

A clone of Manic Miner then, surely?

Supply and demand surely.

I mean, you chaps may hate them, and find the play loathsome on them, but the general punter loves the addictive dond layout, the red boxes, 3 phones!!! Waiting for the bankers offer etc!

While the theme is still so popular with the general public, they will be mass produced however dull and un-inventive it may sound.

Its kind of like saying when will cadburys stop making dairy milks???

Sort of, although it's got 4 cash pots - one for each of the 'WW' characters. I have played it twice and had £70 twice for about £40 in total. Both times the 'Eliminator' Bonus removed MS, so I had to wait (fingers crossed!) until I'd maxed out one of the pots - as there's nothing else to take?!

Ultimately though, not one to bother with... ;)

I'd love to know what Barcrest will do with the license? Presumably it'll still have the same super-game (would be pointless not to have it, really when it's a DOND machine!)

i reckon a game a bit like casino5line/elvis5line with a dond feature instead of the bullshit feature that on that is quite likely soon.. barcrest have the license to both the red consept and the dond feature... so....

Yep. I'll third that actually. The casual player likes the "Beards" for the DOND super-feature... if you think about it you're gonna get at least a quid back which is probably satisfying enough for your average pint-change player.

Actually DOND gold was a new idea aside from the original, which is now standard DOND game. The reason being, it is, as such combining AWP and club. With the progressive nature of the cashpots etc. They could have done a LOT better in general gameplay. SO, it has a maximum £70 cashpot. If this cashpot potentially clocked up to £700, not £70 then fair enough, Why it is that you can play through probably 6 roll in cherrys before you get phones in view? This is an absolute pisstake, the company should encourage people to play max stake, and this is a bloody good way of doing it, if it did frequently offer the 3 in view then Mr Casual would play that stake more than once. I know the score with them though obviously theres a reason for this, they probably play different now anyway.

We will see something new from Mr bellfruit in late february/ early march is my guess. With barcrest getting the DOND liscence i expect amazing clones by the dozen. But they will go by the name of Amazing DOND.... ONLY and i dont have a problem with that. But no doubt i will.
