I think you may have a very valid point Jeff, £35 Jackpots may have spoilt it but in comparison to LBO's and Arcades we do draw the short straw on maxmum payouts.

Three reasons why £35 jps may have rocked the applecart;

1. More often than not it takes the best part of £10 to get on the board.

2. If someones just emptied the machine, that £10 is going to last 3 spins on a couple of hi-lo's before you die or are forced to take £3 or a $hit feature.

3. 50p per spin, new machines have to be played at this setting these days and it is too expensive for a casual player.

Yes there will always be addicts but the question is - Where is the value for the casual 'throw yer change in' punter?

most full time players do everything in roatas well the good ones anyway. i do all my machines on roatas so 80per cent of the time there ready, pending how busy the pub is location etc, day of week.

theres too many players these days for that too possibly be effective maverick, most town locations are played 2+ times a day if they are rovers etc., and every day for reds... you cant account for every player that is around.

Agreed town centres have been shit pickings since the advent of 50p £35. Who wants to put change from a pint in at 50p play lucky to even get a trail held let alone a feature!

Choice of machines is no help for the player either.

I have;
1 vortex 70% (no extra for 50p) ... just dirty :x
1 SMTM
1 Snakez and ladderz ... can't seem to get on with this
2 Rovers ... permenantly burnt
and
about 14 DOND's all chipped and a few games media shite.

depends on the difference between town and city......

Cities are often big enough to for a lot of people, look at norwich, 4 wetherspoons, yates, couple of hotels, bowling alley, 3 arcades and god knows how many private pubs. There were 4 of us and spread out we'd do well!

That bowling alley is still flooded and dead i presume :wink: The spoons were usually godawful most of the time as well!

Spoons are good now, a fair few of the players have died down. Reds are good there and DONDs if thats ya sort of thing.

Bowling alley has been shut actually, and apparently is going to be for a long time. structural damage or something.
