just had to bring this thread up again ,,,,,,,,,,, its probably one of jg's(and co authors, but skillfully re-written by jg) best ever threads .

there's something to be taken from it for everyone on here ,,,,,, if you analyse it word for word ,,,,,,,,you can clearly see which of the phyches applies to you .

a thread like this shouldn't end here ,

so lets admit our faults , and be men .lol

jg couldn't have been more right about me , i started out at around 14/15 playing the videogames first in the town arcades (crystal by the old bus station , and family leisure ) before slowly graduating to fruits . and at first in that era i knew fuck all and often gambled my shirt and walked home potless without bus fare .

and although i dont consider fruits now ( edge given , self disciplined percentage based ) to be gambling ( i treat it as nothing more than a full time job) .......... i suppose gambling is still in my blood ,,,,,, and i do love a good card school , so im far from squeaky clean. ...

which ever way you look at it , im still a gambler ,,,,,,,,, just not with fruits

dont leave this excellent and interesting thread here ,,,,,,,, which phyche are you????
Little discipline = BIG issue

Definitely a 4 here. To be honest if I hadn't discovered gambling I would be worth 7 figures by now, rather than 5. When you gamble on heads or tails, whether the tenner in your pocket ends in an odd or even number or throwing coins nearest the wall, you know you've got it bad.

A 3 here lol for sure for me.

Shit or bust, but lets get it over quickly and not dilly dally eh :)
Also it is statistically the best way of playing games with a negative expectation (ie. shortest possible time playing them).

What I don't understand is people who play small bets, which won't ever give them a good hit, yet they spend all day playing these bets and end up hundreds down... it's like you are giving yourself no chance to win big and a good chance of losing big...

Also those who bet small to start with then increase bets with losing spins (ala martingale), you either lose alot or win fuck all. You mayaswell start with a high bet and then if you win, its big money.

When I went to vegas I went to the "casino royale" which offered 100 times odds on craps. I can't be assed explaining the rules but basically you have to put down a dollar say on a (pass/don't pass line, this is a 50/50 like red or black gamble style thing) bet, then you can put $100 on a bet they give you true odds on. The implied odds from this game were like 99.999991% or something lol. Had a bit of a go and I was the only one to actually use the 100 times odds in the casino! Ended up about evens on it....

yep george you've thrust me into the videogamer catergory no.5 , aspects of a few other catergories still remain deeply buried in my bonce.

i started going in seaside arcades even before my teens ,this activity was helped by my grandparents owning a beachhut opposite mannings in felixstowe.the occaisional pull on the penny bandits was had but mainly old school videogames .this progressed into cycling miles across ipswich in my teens to 'the hole' an upstairs room crammed with games such as spacefirebird, moon cresta ,asteroids and phoenix .a place full of smoke and punkrockers happily playing alongside rastas.then there was 'the griddle' a slightly more commercial haunt that stuff like 'burnin rubber'and 'booma ranga',some old pintables and all the mainstream stuff at the time.......they also had a 'big shot' in the corner that always had a crowd round it.

'hedleys grill' was probably where i started playing fruits .they had a lineup and a hyperviper and they used to change tokens into cash 8) .

saturdays used to consist of collecting the weeks paper round money(7 quid)getting my pocket money of my dad(2 quid :x ),bus into town (always sure to get a return ticket after a a couple of 'walks of shame')
hit hedleys lineup and hyper viper with a couple of quid and then onto the griddle for a video session, meet a slightly older mate from work at 12pm back to the griddle where my mate always bought me and my bruv dinner with his luncheon vouchers lol and play vids till 5ish or skint on their bigshot :(

as soon as i got my first job after i left scholl( ) i started playing fruits alot more and became an addict overnight ,pubs used to turn a blind eye to me playing lootshoots ,cop the lot, reel crazy, hit the top and smash'n'grabs whilst forcing down disgusting tasting lager and pernod and blacks.these were my play till skint days, always frustrated after at how stupid i'd been.

after a little time in my job i'd even be going in the pub up the road and playing the poundstretcher and action bank during my lunch break and often be late back lol.

then when my parents divorced ,my mother went to felixstowe and this gave me a weekend base to punt the arcades from early morn till ast thing at night. i eventually chucked a fulltime job to become an arcade rat in between brief attempts to find and hold down jobs ,a losing addiction slowly became a winning addiction and gradually i moved up the pecking order.

for a while i also used to do horses everyday but nothing major ,i'm talking yankees ,lucky 15s ,small singles no more than a tenner, and forcasts.this was just something to do in the afternoon whilst not on the playstation caning draw.

as addictive personalities go ,i know i'm quite bad, i even had a speed addiction for a while in my mid 20's and that took a long time for me to go out and enjoy myself without the stuff afterwards.

i can control myself totally where fruits are concerned now and i don't play very often anymore unless certain conditions are available.i'm more likely to play the quizzer when i go in the pub now(and that's the last thing you'd want when you're 3 days into a bag of amphets).

i still get my gamblers fix from poker...oh and the odd 20 playing slots on microstakes online though which is limited

i think i will always need something no matter what it is(except roulette) ,it's been such a big part of my life that it's second nature now .

so after all this rambling i guess there's aspects of no's 2 ,4 and a bit of 6 aswell as my number 5.

To my mind, the best ever tip about FOBT's is actually THIS ONE:

"Don't play these rigged devices. Run for the hills!!!! NEVER insert money."

I had occasional SMALL wins on the FOBTs when I used to play them, but never anything I would consider worthy of publication. I used to get VERY strange results from them, that I consider would never happen in a casino with a live wheel... so my advice has always been to steer clear.

I can prove that - I wrote a blog entry about these FOBTS back in 2007: http://beatthecasinos.blogspot.com/2007 ... -fobt.html. I've also had other issues with the FOBT machines, when playing their "blackjack" version. The issue in this post did eventually get rectified, but it peeved me off big time back then: http://beatthecasinos.blogspot.com/2007 ... rvice.html

I'm sure some players will swear by these machines and say that they're great to win on. Most of us though, I think, including myself, swear AT them, rather than BY them. :-)
I write http://www.howtobeatthecasinos.com - come and visit anytime.

I'm sure I've seen that post before and FOBT's roulette is RANDOM and you should bet on number 9 BUT of course you're right in a strange way, but I will add to that....

DO NOT PLAY ROULETTE

If you want a gamble try BETFAIR ZERO ROULETTE that is your best odds, DO NOT FOLLOW ANY OTHER BLOGS or LINKS.

Me and a friend would often sit outside the pub, drinking heavily, and bet on the colour of the next car to pass by.

Yes that's true, imagine the profits I could have had, had I not cut and run yonks ago with the £4k I made on it and pressed the bar button....

Well I think you need a full stop key added to your keyboard.

for what its worth...I was in the bookies yesterday putting on a footy acca when I decided to have a go at roulette.

So I had £15 on me and having read some debate in a variety of places thought I would see what happened.

Long story short, covered every number except 3 & 4. 20p chips each. Ball lands on 3. Harrumph.

Tried again, covering the 3 as well...guess where it landed?

You guessed it. 4.

Now I don't really need the 'you twat these things are random' comments that I perceive might be coming, but it did strike me that the whole thing was a little more 'orchestrated' than perhaps I should expect. Maybe it is simply that I refuse to believe anyone could be *that* unlucky.

Anyhow, it's given me a clear illustration into the pitfalls of the machines - no more for me i'm afraid.
