In my opinion you've been lucky.

Because such circumstances will surely mean you never play one again....

no one can be that lucky on the machine?
well i can assure you i am not lying my man.
why would i feel the need to lie about my winnings on a machine?
im not a big gambler but i have always found myself lucky!
and yeah i agree it is a horrible game and from one bit of luck it makes you want to go back all the time.
i have always had a bit of luck and always wanted to go back everyday and try again and again but then i think no thats how people end up with a addiction and go skint on them!
i have also won 332 pound off 4 pound on one of those 500 jackpot free play machines it rolled in 50 free plays.
like ive said i have always been a lucky person but my luck always runs out quick!

sniff sniff....yeah I can smell that as well, it's the same smell you get in all town centre bookmakers.
You say roulette is a horrid game, well no, for you it sounds like a bloomin' marvelcomicbookcollectorous ticket to retirement and everyone knows 50 spins = £6, we've all seen those buddylove videos.
You've been a lucky person but your luck runs out quick? Seems to have lasted for an inordinately long time on the FOBT roulette. Or maybe it's ten minutes of pure luck to start, then it turns rancid. Well that is bloody lucky to even have that much organised luck. My luck usually starts awful and turns to mediocre and if I stay up until 8am the next morning, it actually starts getting pretty good but by then it's time to go to work, which is unlucky.

Roulette is a mindfuck. You should treat it with respect. It's a means of gambling money at a 2.7% advantage to house, never forget that.

Cheers,

JG aka Sparrow.

I'm a loss chaser, and will continue to be such until I not only realise this but also stop allowing myself the facility to gamble i.e. in the pub yourself for a quiet couple, then happen to pop into bookies for a look at football coupon, spare change goes in, then a £10, then a £20 - win £60, so play it down to £40 and you're still £20 up, damn now at £35, well go to £20 then walk... then walk to the cash machine and do your nuts.

The ultimate irony is that there's only ever £500 per spin up for grabs, which on the grand scale of things is a half (sorry)... £500 isn't a lot of cash, and be honest, how many times have you ever hit that in a spin, or seen anyone else hit it? now divide that by the number of times you've ever had a spin... crazyness personified.

William Hill. The Burges. Walked in to check the L8rz innitbruv?
I was unable to check. There are the standard 4 FOBTs you would expect in a city centre bookmakers. The minimum number of people around any one terminal I counted was five. The maximum was eleven. All in all, 28 people were involved either in a spectatory capacity or a wagering capacity, across the four FOBTs.
Not counting the two other chaps on the live betting machine, where you can place bets on physical events without the need to give money directly to a human being.
Now I've got some words I could write to describe these gormless gawpboxes, they're quite rude and I know some of you have kids who may glance at this board, so I'll not type them, but I think you can all guess my opinions of chronic FOBT spectatorism.

Having wasted my life gambling, I self excluded at the local big three at Christmas for the maximium five years. Also the independents. Best thing I have done in my life. It's not just the money saved, but the amount of time that I have freed up. In my opinion, roulette should only be allowed in licensed casinos, period (as the Americans, say). The whole moral compass seems to have been abandoned by the last government.

500 pound machines in arcades also. It is meant to be entertainment, not a case of shovelling note after note into machines, with the opportunity of losing thousands in a day.

I really respect those with discipline, but for several people it is a insidious addiction, with little recognition.
Roulette free since December 2011.

harry ,,,,,,,,,,, as a long standing member of fruitchat ,,,, i have the ultimate respect for you my friend , so please dont take this the wrong way ,,,,,,,,,, but

you cant blame the government ,,,,,, or anyone else for that matter ,,,,,,,,,, for your lack of willpower.

maybe they should regulate the fobt's , and lower the max stakes to a ten pound spin or lower the max amount you can win to make them less alluring or something , and take a look at the 500's too . but nobody puts a gun to your head and makes you play em.

its all about choices

sorry m8 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Of course you are right, but a few years ago you couldn't join a casino without a 24 hour wait and the most you could lose on a spin of the fruits was 20p. I've no willpower and wished I never ever gambled. It has ruined my life.

well at least you have a life m8 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, fortunately we live in a welfare state , so no matter how bad things get ,,,,,,,,,, nobody in this country should ever starve to death,,,,,,,, unless they gamble their crisis loans away b4 food.

obviously we dont know all your personal circumstances ,(and im not asking you to air anything personal , that your not comfortable with) but no matter how old you are , surely its never too late for a change m8 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i dont have to tell someone of your intellect , that there are many organisations offering help.

i agree that some sort of regulation needs to take place , but it would be better if people could get help to regulate themselves .

if it was just fruits ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, then that last statement from me is a bit of a two faced double edged sword , because on fruits ,,,,,,,,,,, if were honest , we will always need people to lose , so that people like myself can win ,,(selfish but true) ,,,,,,, unfortunately people like me make a living off the misery of others.

but genuinely hope you can sort yourself out m8.

Honestly the best thing for me on those things was having a mad winning run, I just came to the conclusion I would be sick to give them the money back after that run....

Unfortunately chasing that run to get to that realisation may never happen for some people as they may never get lucky enough! I certainly know a few others in this situation! For these people I can sorta understand the mentality of playing on, ie. "gotta be due a break" sorta thinking, unfortunately there is really no such thing as being due in reality, and you could just keep on going and going and losing more and more, chasing a win that would hardly touch the sides of your loss.....

It's a mad game and the bookies are rigged beyond belief, everyone knows it some just have a hard time accepting it. I've probably won about 3k in the last week on them but then lost 400 in about ten minutes an hour ago. 4 £100 spins lost three won 1, then lost lost twice again. I won't play again for a while now as I'm hurting off that big loss but I'll sure as shit be back on them at some point. I wish more than anything I could fuck them off completely but alas it probably will never happen.
