Never done it before,

Are there less numbers in the Irish lotto? As i would like to know the real odds before having a go at the 575/1 offered.

http://www.thelotter.com/LotteryInfo.as ... tryRef=289

theres probably a better site but cant access on my PC.

think its a pick 3 match 3 or pick 4 match 4 type of play so if you pick 4 matching 3 doesnt count you will need the 4. Still 3 numbers, 3 draws totalling £1.50 with a £288 return is worth a shot when passing the bookies.

i thought you could pick 2 numbers but obviously not.

thinks its also a minimum of 50p a draw.

You can put as much as you like on two number,

I do 17 28 and 42 and the one week I didn;t get it on they came up :(

They haven't been on since. You could do £10 on two numbers and get a lot back for that but will they come up?

17 and 3 comes up all the time as does 42

Views on Irish are very welcome. I have been playing for about 10 years, and made modest amounts of pocket money over the years. Especially on two number pick.

The deal got harder when they increased number of balls in draw from 42 to 45, and I don't win so often now on the two-number bet. Betfred pay 60/1 on a 2-number return. If you stick with the numbers and play all 3 draws, they will come out eventually.

Three numbers is very hard to get @ 600-1 return. I have won 3 times in 10 years on 3 number-pick, so generally stick to 2 numbers. Do a fiver a line - total £15 stake - and pik up £300 for a straight win. Better than the fruities ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

I do 17 28 and 42 they came up once last year but since then nothing. Two numbers come up all the time but the odds but if you put £5 that 3 draws and its twice a week, thast £120 a month. Whats the chances of that coming in?

The above should be clear enough, but it is possible to write down the equation in factorial form.

Let
B = Total number of balls (45)

D = Number drawn = Number selected (6)

H = Number correct ('Hits') (3)

The probability is (read on only if you have no fear of equations):

B-D! D! B-D! D!

P = ---------------------------------------------

B-2D+H! D-H! B! H! D-H!
