Betfred

Post by prizeguy »

Just writing re these, won approx £500 on a roulette machine last night (well early evening) women says cant pay you havent got money in shop, tell her I live 30 miles away cant you phone the one where I live there and collect there? No cant with fobts blah blah, she says come tomorrow will have it. Ok then go today (60 mile trip) women says cant pay you errh just banked money for today (this was midday) tell her once again had to travel, her attitude is basically well tough next customer please. Now I could understand if it was some independant bookmaker, but from a betting organisation with over 800 shops (this one been in a busy town centre) is surely terrible. Know will get money eventually (well hopefully) but just seems terrible attitude and really unprofessional for a big betting company. Remember won £1000 in a william hill, in a quiet out of town suberb, as expected they didnt have money but were really polite and put it on my bank card (with credit receipt) Put this to Betfred, but they were like erh no cant do that, come back later

Now I dont have an online betting acount, but I am sure if I lost £500 and didnt pay an installment on X day I would be threatened with bailiffs charged interest.

Am I overeacting or is that a bit shoddy (havent got anything against betfred by the way lol, actually quite like their shops and offer sllightly better average odds)

I don't think you're over-reacting at all. I'm led to believe Fred Done is a decent bloke who, like you say, offers a little bit more to customers as he realises they/we are the people who put him where he is today. I'd be inclined to give HQ a call explain the situation, tell them how rude the woman was and see if they will re-imburse your travelling expenses, probably by the way of betting vouchers.

I for one don't have time for jumped up dogsbodies who think they own the business when they are just salaried nobodies (pub managers/staff, anyone?), and I can understand them not having too much cash on the premises this day and age, but its not fair having rigged machines which you can win up to £50k on yet struggle to payout £500.

Persevere then take your custom elsewhere in the future, and play closer to home next time!

As ma71lda said, Done seems to understand the punter better than the big 3. Put it in writing to the company, at the very worst you'll get a standard letter reply.

If no one complains, then service can't improve.

Have you tried to phone there head office? the number is on the back of there betting slips, explain to them you made a extra 60 mile round journey due to information given to you in the shop for nothing and see if they give you a free bet or something.

Freds I have found to be the one of the better betting shops when I have had issues in the past.

I've had terrible service in UK bookies re these machines... here's just one example from my blog: http://beatthecasinos.blogspot.com/2007 ... rvice.html

Better to play online - similar games are available but without all the hassle! i.e. http://beatthecasinos.blogspot.com/2008 ... lette.html and http://beatthecasinos.blogspot.com/2007 ... -edge.html

Hmmm, possibly. I'll have to check. :-)

To be fair though, the blog is 100% free, and I'm simply providing the information as a fellow player trying to help us all.

THIS post doesn't have a link to my blog. :-)
