There seems to be a few people on here that like the occasional punt, how feasible would creating some sort of online betting club, with payments etc. being made through Paypal?
I may get shot down in flames for suggesting such a thing, the idea that there would need to be trust between people who have never met face to face etc, but it's just a thought, i'd be interested to hear some opinions.

I've not given the logistics a huge amount of thought, but perhaps create a Paypal account that can only be accessed by 1 or 2 say designated people, this will be the main betting account. Then each week people would send in say £4 - £2 to be bet that week, and £2 to be saved over. At the end of the year, divvy up and payout, the purpose of the £2 saved over being that at least everyone would get a min. of £104 (assuming a 52-week run).
Of course, there will be plenty of things to be thought about i.e. how do you stop someone pocketing the money rather than betting it? Do you request that they scan in their betting slip before a certain time so that all of the club members know exactly what the bet is? Do we set up an internet account with one of the bookmakers?
Or perhaps the large trust element required, who should be the 1 or 2 people who have access to the main account? Perhaps those who have been members for a certain period of time (I was going to say who use the board frequently, but i'd rule myself out there!) should be allowed in.
Agagin, any comments/suggestions/potential problems and solutions are most welcome.

sounds like a lot of work to start up, rules etc plus the response doesnt seem too great at the minute either. id be interested but i cant see it happening realistically.
maybe some of the money being donated to the site would see a few more interested

Donating to the site is a good idea. Regards the interest, I propose we give it a week or two and see how many people register an interest, say we get to 10-12, that could be enough to set the wheels in motion.
One problem might be that it's only mentioned on this thread. There may be people who use the site but use it purely for fruit machine information, but also like a small bet now and then. Then there are those who won't check in on things for a while too.

They'll bet on anything here Stu. You might need to set up an account that requires 2 of 3 signatures or similar. Logistically they will need to be relatively close together in geographical terms. £10 a month subs with a share out at year end seems reasonable. Anyone else add their thoughts.
ps An exchange account over a bookmakers account is a must, imho.
pps I often get late info on racedays, but that's because I often work in the Members Restaurant @ Newbury/Epsom/Sandown/Ascot.
