As a non-England fan, and a non-Israel fan, I watched the game without emotional involvement. It seemed to me that the only cunning or craft in the team was in Rooney, and he had a bad game, which seemed to effect the others into playing poorly as well.

I think Israel defended excellently. The keeper was great, and there were some heroic lunging blocks and last-ditch tackles. Their attack looked dangerous at times, but England mostly coped easily. Other teams will drop points against them.

And if you think a 0-0 away in Israel is bad:

Kazakhstan 2-1 Serbia
Montenegro 2-1 Hungary

Clearly Montenegro was carrying Serbia for all those years...
