Aintree Champion Gambler Competition Day 1 Post Your Selections here
Rules first:
1. You start with £9999 to last you over the 3 days.
2. You can bet it all in 1 day if you like.
3. You must have a bet of at least £1000 on the Grand National if you are still in the competition by then (you can go skint)! In the event of you having less than £1000 by Grand National day, you must place everything you have left on the Grand National race itself.
4. All bets are to WIN.
5. 1 horse per race.
6. You DO NOT have to bet on every race but you must have a selection in every race.
7. If you are absent on a day, you can bet with your entire funds on the day/days you do play but you will be fined £250 per race you miss (don't post a selection for).
8. You must bet on at least 6 races in the 3 days.
9. You DO NOT have to use all of your funds over the 3 days but your total wagers must total at least £5000.
10. Maximum bet per race £2000, minimum £100.
11. Winnings are settled at SP.
12. Single bets only.
13. In the event of a dead heat, you will be paid in full.
14. You get your stake back for fallers/unseated/brought down horses or refusers to race but NOT if your horse is pulled up, or runs out/takes the wrong course - this is not applicable for the Grand National itself.
15. No race has more points/multipliers - the £1000 minimum bet on the Grand National rule is designed for this very reason.
16. Anyone who has 3 consecutive winners (even if they haven't bet on any or all of them) will get a £1000 bonus, if they get a fourth, fifth, etc. £1000 more is added each time. This is why we must post a selection per race.
17. Non runners = refunds unless you state otherwise (i.e. I would like any non runners to go on the fav, etc.)

This almost always results in the fav winning. The form looks solid but that bastard horse Bristol De Mai looked so impressive once, it would just do my head in if he decided to run like that again!keno wrote:2:15 Hargam money back as a free bet your horse finishes 2nd or 3rd with PP..max £50. Just as well i have multiple accounts should it lose ha

Well exactly and for these reasons would not want to be on at shorter than evens. Think it opened there or there abouts but now seems generally to be 4-6.Ruler of The World wrote:MoG will post later, that's Chris. Where's Marcossvon? Why don't more people enter!?!
Hargam on the Triumph Hurdle form looks a NAP but that was Cheltenham which is really a specialist's track, I would back Hargam harder if it weren't for serial shithouse Bristol De Mai being in the race...

My excuses for the day: I hate McCoy, would have backed Jezki were he not on him - felt compelled to back him on the odds on donkey, then remained loyal to the donkey Dawalan who lost yet again but ditched Clarcam who went and won! Also wanted Silviniaco to win at 50/1! Do share your excuses! I'll have more tomorrow!

For argument's sake and just for completeness, I'm also calculating the scores the 'traditional' way... I'm assuming the 'big race' is the 4th race on each day... correct me if I'm wrong! 10 points for wins, 6 2nd, 3 3rd and 1 4th with double points for the 4th race...
Northern Monkey 6+1+10+20+10+0+0 = 47
Keno 6+1+3+20+10+0+6 = 46
Chris 10+1+10+12+0+0+0 = 33
Harry 10+1+0+12+6+0+0 = 29
Ruler of The World 0+1+10+12+0+0+0 = 23
Hmmm... I think this tells us a lot!
