I am not happy. On Friday I went to place a bet on my account with Boylesports. Now in the past I have had no problems whatsoever with this bookmaker, but today when I went to place what can only be classed as a very small bet i.e. £20 on a horse at 7/4 with best odds guaranteed, the website rejected the bet. The lame excuse that the bet exceeded their payout liabilities! What? I thought. £20 @ 7/4 is surly a very small bet and this should not be the case. So I called them. They also gave me some crappy excuse and said this restriction applied to certain markets. All they were prepared to offer me was a £20 bet at S.P.! Can you believe it? I told them to shove it & then backed the same horse with Hills @ 2/1 best odds g/teed. If this crap continues I will be closing my account. Thing is I am not even up on that site (well down) so that cannot be their excuse. Boylesports I hope you are reading this. I am furious!

It's official. Boylesports are no longer a "Best Odds Guaranteed" bookmaker.

Beat the price, then they will pick and choose who can have the offer.

Only reason I still use bookies are for ante-post each way bets. It usually not even possible to construct the same bet with Betfair due a lack of place market, or insufficient liquidity if there is one. E.g. Champions League winner 2012-13 currently Betfair is a worse price for the favourites (Barca), and there is no place market at all. To me, 4.5 each way (Betvictor) on Barca right now looks like a fair price, but I wouldn't back them outright at Betfair (4.3) because I doubt that price will move enough to be worth trading until they reach the final. In which case, the EW bet will be sitting pretty!
Anything short term Betfair makes sense. Far easier to jump in and out of a position on something there, often at a price a couple of ticks better.

That is exactly it. Best Odds Guaranteed BUT only to selected mug punters. How fair!

That may be so, but gambling is supposed to be be fair and open (re. the Gambling Commission) and there is nothing either fair or open about this.
