Champion Chase , Wednesday 16th March 3.20.pm.
Master Minded. Undoubtedly the classiest horse in the race and not a classic renewal of the fastest race of the festival, Master Minded is a lay at 3.80 to win and 1.71 to place. Special bet is 6/4 not to place with Sporting Bet. Why may you ask ?
Unless the ground dries considerably (possible as the forecast is good for the next few days) the going is probably going to be no better than good to soft and a horse such as Master Minded needs much better than this. Will struggle in sloppy ground, especially after it's breathing operation last summer. After a facile win at Sandown in the Tingle Creek, was really found wanting at Ascot last time out at Ascot in the Victor Chandler, being all out to beat Somersby a short head, despite McCoy looking round with a double handful turning into the straight.
Interesting that Ladbrokes go joint top price 11/4 (together with Billy Hills)about this horse, as The Magic Sign get it right time and time again.
