xmas eve

Post by jimbo111 »

Cannot believe just how ridiculous its getting to be honest..LADBROKES have said there betting shops will open on xmas eve for the first time in there history between 10am and 4pm...NO racing NO greyhounds..ALL virtual action and of course the ONLY reason theyre opening is FOBTs..they should be absolutely disgusted with themselves trying to get every last £1 out of people at a time of year when £ is so scarce..i hope not a lot visit and make it all a worthless excercise....shameful.

The sad thing is, alot of people will go in and play because they are addicted to the damn things and they know it'll be their last fix until..............oh yeah - Boxing Day.

Unless they have access to an online account.

Shame really, but nobody is forced to gamble. Are they?

I agree noone has to gamble but bookmakers are not stupid they know with NO racing on that only ADDICTS will attend these shops on xmas eve to play these machines..so fleecing people at that time of the year shows something we have known for a long long time no morlity whatsoever...

As long as staff are paid a good chunk i don't really have an issue with it. As already said, people only have to wait until bocing day anyway, and if they can't go 2 days without a gamble, then they've got deeper issues.

Maybe im not putting the point acrss im trying to make...i dont agree with xmas eve but this signals the end i fear for betting shops as we know and have always known them..horses,greyhounds will now take a big back seat to the virtuality and electronic world of FOBTs and virtual racing...if of course it hasnt already done so to be honest...trying to find a screen with non runners-odds etc becomes more difficult daily...

The shops will all be dead bar the city ones which will have the usual crowd of idiots huddled around the FOBT's. Worth it for Ladbrokes? Probably, yes.

I personally don't understand why ANYONE would gamble money on a FOBT when Betfair offer Zero Blackjack, Roulette and Poker.

In fact, since the bookies got rid of the AWPs, I can't even think of a reason to enter one of these places - except to go for a piss or to nick a free pen. I'm sure there are many like me.

Yeah saw a big advertisement on their window bragging they were open Christmas eve. Just goes to show really where they make their money from these days.

Re the FOBTS does anyone play anything else other than roulette, just in my area its only roulette that seems to get played. The online slotts things havent took off really in my area yet
