Cheltenham Festival

Post by rook1984 »

With Cheltenham being a little over 2 weeks away. What does everybody fancy?
A lot of the favourites look good but it surely can't be that easy. Can it????

I'll be following one of the guys I went with last year. He was £18k up last year so I trust his judgement!!

If you copy him he will probably end up 180k down with your luck!

Most of his bets are done ante post(is that the phrase?)

I remember last year when baby run fell at the last from a winning position, I was fucked off cos I had a bullseye on him, I believe it cost him about £3.5k!! But he was £11k up on the first day so easy come easy go!!

He told me that he starts his research for the next year as soon as the current one ends. By betting early he's able to get some great odds which comes with big risks for obvious reasons. But gives you the option to lay plenty off if indeed the horse is still running well and one of the favourites. Lots of confusing lingo and strange bets for a novice like me to take in, but it's fascinating to listen and watch the outcomes.

He was equally fascinated when I took an alien for 5 and an Indy for 2 off peanuts in a strip club!!

It's a wonderful place to be during the festival itself, plenty of lovely ladies about the town, plenty of pubs that are rammed with people with money to burn(I even got a big reds off less than a score 3 times in one night!!) but it's people who can drink without turning into a cunt and wanting to fight everyone.

I love it.

the council grant special licenses that last the duration of the festival for lap dancing and strip bars. hundreds of extra brasses are in town too.

the pub opposite the railway station becomes the betfair arms for the duration and every single place ups their prices significantly for the week.

if i wanted to , i could rent my sofa out for a few hundred quid for the week!

the montpelier end of town is probably the best place to be after the racing but it's absolutely heaving everywhere.

Ascot's the same!!

A friends next door neighbour rents their house out for Ascot week every year to a bunch of Americans. They pay £4,000 for seven days and the owners have a week in Spain.
Roulette free since December 2011.
