whatever system you use, you still require patience and discipline, otherwise it all goes to pot!

haha i forgot about this post... lol

but seriously, anyone that thinks they can beat roulette is a total moron..

each spin is independent, the odds on a single spin are completely against you..

as for covering all of the numbers apart from a few, thats mathematicly as pointless as betting on every horse in a race apart from one..

the betting ratio/payback/risk are very bad..

roulette is fun if you have money to lose.. a great buzz if you hit a few numbers, bet over your head and the headache and downer is probably comparable to hardcore-drug use...

ive lost about £2000 on one wheel at a casino.. i was physically sick afterwards, BUT i had made that money from the casino, id started with £100 and a few bits of change so about £120ish

i cant imagine what it would feel like to lose money earned/savings,

sticking £20 in fobt and hoping to double up = fine
thinking you can beat roulette on any level = retarded

totaly agree spyder, it should be just for fun, which is when i gamble on fobt roulette. Always just play to pass the time and mayby make a bit.

seen people lose stupidly because they play the roulette like a fruit machine, believing they can 'force' a number out. lol

'Discipline' when applied to roulette is just a prophylaxis, not a cure.

Quick tip: You should be walking before you even set foot in the bookmakers IF your aim is to make money. If you're just buying entertainment, fair enough.

I hear this sort of thing all the time ----> "I just play red/black double up, looking for terminals with long strings of same colours/evens/1-18s etc, because I'm disciplined I don't get too greedy and I always know when to walk with a profit, even if it's just a small one."

Is anyone who advocates that sort of statement able to tell me when the right time to walk is? As in my book it's when you're thinking about going inside the bookies.

You cannot and I mean really cannot underestimate the power of good discipline. I know some very disciplined players and without their discipline, they'd me far lesser players. Never forget - DISCIPLINE, it's all about the discipline. Seriously - DISCIPLINE.

Cheers,

one tip for roulette...

any win on roulette that hits number 17 is a free win, and doesnt affect the next spin's payout...

Another random thread about roulette - altho having a leaning towards FOBTs. There are separate threads about FOBTs in particular - but I'd just like to reply to someone's post (About 10 messages up - sorry - forgot to do quote) who said it was stupid covering lots of numbers because you are just waiting for a bad number to come in and "kill" you.

My view on this is that it doesn't really matter whether you cover 1 number or 36 numbers - I understand what you are saying - but its human nature to want to cover more - for the following reasons:

1) covering more numbers makes you think you're more likely to win - in fact, statistics/probability theory would back you up - that on one particular spin, you're more likely to win if you cover more numbers (well more likely to get a number that you've covered - whether you make a profit or not depends on your staking plan)

2) ok - so you ditch the above idea - you don't want to cover loads of numbers because you know any profit is going to be minimal - and effectively to make a "decent" profit, you're going to need several wins on the trot (a bit like getting 6 winners up in a lucky 63 bet) - so you plan to be disciplined, and you also are prepared to cover a smaller selection of numbers - knowing that when you hit, it'll be worthwhile. But then, a number of things happen to break your disciplined approach - firstly, despite covering (let's say) 1/4 of the board, after 6 spins, you've hit 6 losers - now if you "win" you're still going be in deficit - so you up your stake to compensate - at the same time, you might just add a few numbers too - just to make it "more likely" you'll hit next time. Secondly, when choosing your small selection of numbers, it's difficult to leave out certain numbers - because they're your birthday, or your g/f's birthday etc or they're next to one of your best numbers on the wheel - or "I have to cover zero" because it "always comes out" - and before long, it's difficult to stick to that small selection of nos.

3) you start to cover "losing" numbers which are actually hitting - "knowing" that they'll probably come out again.

For anyone that doesn't treat roulette gambling as fun, it can be difficult to be so disciplined.

as for fobts, it really matters not whether you cover 1 number or 36 - sooner (rather than later) the machine will ship your arse - for most of us (with jobs etc) we can't stand around in a shop for hours on end - if we could, then we'd find out that just playing one number each spin will have a similar outlook to the result (ie: play for 370 spins, and hands up how many people would think that the average fobt in your local would throw in your number 10 times or more??)

As someone said, if you want to play roulette, play in a casino (but be careful of the "no limit" nature of a casino game)

If you want to play a fobt, watch the youtube video and take heed.
