2 years ago I broke my index finger playing cricket.
It is now peculiarly shaped and I found it a hindrance to my machining.

Fortunately, I trained my middle finger to take its place.

I imagine the following are two likely contenders for the old quiz finger syndrome :

Mouse trap - splat the mice when on fast mode

Crystal Maze when hoovering up those gold tokens

Although, to be fair anybody who played Daley Thompson's Decathlon back in the day will be immune to todays puny physical effort required.

Oh, and if you had the pleasure of the same game on the old Atari 2600 with it's indestructible rubber joystick you must be able to wank quicker than a monkey on heat.

Hehe! Those were the days .. (games I mean, not the other..)

Track'n'Field as an arcade machine (as opposed to a Speccy game) was a similar bastard, with the long jump being a particular finger-killer on those solid buttons.

Nowadays you wave a remote control in the air and settle for backache, or so it seems.

I don't know about SWP finger, but back in the day of playing the old trackball based machines (Marble Madness, etc), I used to get my hand trapped between the ball and the control panel, which usually cost me some skin off my palm. Perhaps it was just bad technique, since it seemd to happen to me on most of the games I've played that have a 'lip' around the trackball.

There were many such injuries when I used to play a lot of Golden Tee. My most common (before I perfected the shot) was absolutely twatting the front of the machine going for the hammer shot. Many a Friday evening spent with hand in glass of ice, bag of peas etc.

Other people used to cacth their rings on the edge of the machine causing broken fingers etc and I think there was one bloke got his tie stuck oin the tracker ball  although cant remmber what injury that gave rise to.

Currently on holiday and enjoying three weeks of finger-rest!
i've had plenty of aches, especially back in the days of continuous jackpots and six/eight hours quizzing shifts. I would often try to play left handed to cary things!
I'm ok now but dread to consider arthritic problem when old age creeps in. Especially as I play the guitar a lot.

My problem doesn't lie with the stabbing, more the dragging. I've had some pretty bad friction burns from playing stuff like Countdown and the Crystal Maze.

Bless.
