this is posted after 14 days work with very little sleep so apologies for any typos. but i think the content will be disciplined.

i make my salary from words, therefore i should be in a high percentile on word games. but this newest SWP game is impossible.
it is a given that scrabble is a stupid game with all those pathetic 2/3/4LWs but, to demand 75 tiles used in a 9x9 grid (81 squares) with two minutes (or whatever) is extraordinary.

six unused squares? (in fact this calls for an irresponsible ! or even eight !!!!!!!! )

you could give this conundrum to a scrabble pro and it would take him a day to solve it with his own choice of tiles (the titbox game just gives you vwls).

at work, it took me three hours to make a symmetrical (+,+ for those who know the rules of crosswords) >3 crossword (with real words using the 98 scrabble tiles) and that was comparatively easy. and i flatter myself that i am good with words and understand my audience.


if this is what titbox has chosen to replace WU (and latterly the soup nonsense) then it speaks volumes of how far they have gone down the pan.

and it cost me a quid to scratch my arse trying to see how this had any worth?

it is phenomenally bad; mostly because the spoiler is instantaneous and costs you £1 to see.

i nominate this as the worst game ever.

I don't think you're the man to judge whether this is a good game or not, regardless of your ability as a wordsmith. You're so blinded by the rage of losing Word Up/Soup, it's like someone's strangled your Gran..

Vaginal Bob and Bessie obviously dont think so having rogered the itboxes in Maidenhead with unbelievably high scores(how can you get over a 1000pts?). Only a matter of time before a national high score is collated. A scrabble (board game)/countdown/word up player will make money from this game.(not me )

I personally don't like it either; then I'm not a lover of the board game, so who knows why I played it in the first place. But then again always worth a test punt. Like many games, some like them and others don't. It's the difference between American hard gums and jelly babies.

I don't know if you noticed, but there is actually a clear grid button which can be used a couple of times to wipe the slate clean per game. It's still piggishly hard though, i got down to 17 tiles left. £1 a go too. One to avoid for me at least.

it is doable. you need to be quick and have the train of thought of a robot but it is doable. those of us who don't have lexical minds will find it impossible so the makers are aiming it way too high for joe public.

you don't score many points for artistic merit on this one but, as with so many other word games out there, it is the numbers that really count.

my local has a titbox which i rarely play as i tend to be there to drink with buddies. anyway, i played two games of scrabble while my friends were smoking.

to my astonishment the scoreboard was already full of scores ( >350 ) so 50 mediocre scores in a week. i thought i knew the locals but clearly the lunch crowd is keen but dim.

first game i got £6.20 on 71. next game asked for 94 tiles used. then my mates were back.

i can believe that the threshold for the prize round goes low but i can't see how it is playable.

there are several reasons why this thread should be censored. anyway, i realise that BESI moonlights as a serious scrabble player, but i was very impressed to see a 1358 at lunchtime. the same machine had another 13xx so it would appear that BESI is cracking these out at will; the bar is set way above what i have jumped.

(i am guessing that you get 500 for using up 98 tiles) even if this is the case, 766 is a colossal effort in the time allowed. maybe it is second nature for him/her.

don't know if BESI looks in on here but if you do, good luck with spanking 1358 shades of shit out of this one.

I've used all 98 letters, yes it does give a 500 point bonus, which boosted my score to 800ish

So, yes 1300+ is mightily impressive. Luckily there's no scores like that on any of the itboxes I've come across on my travels so I have been cleaning up. £7.70 is my best. I usually get over a fiver if I don't choke when the £2's are on offer. I can put in some very silly words when under pressure.

The problem with this for me is that you waste a £1 (rather than 50p) just finding out if its ready.

So yesterday i played one which GGDR had visited a couple of days previously and 99 tiles were required.

The machine next to it only needed about 50- you must have been short of time GGDR- cheers

You can make £400 a day on scrabble by going to different pubs 95 tiles is achievable , after the initial 1st cash game i average £7.40 and on the second cash game the timer is small and in the corners a pound is there instead of £2 ,which makes it more difficult, as well as the tile count probably starting on 95 plus 2nd time around!

however as i am currently smashing them too bits all over and taking a break from fruities ( apart from my 3 gud one gud ones i have left ) i am happy to let anyone into a method that allows you to make £40 from each one not the average £10 which i first started getting . for any of you doubters out there near the notts area if you wanna put your money where your mouth is i am happy to show you .

obviously a good word knowledge is required . i whipped out epizoic yesterday !!! thank god i was boring at 10 years old ! £2000 a week off it boxes minus diet cokes ! ta .

I know exactly which one you mean. Went in there twice this week - first time that machine was broken, second time someone was on it. There's one more left in that area if you can find it before I return.
