A little searching, but to save you the time - http://www.fruitforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=28240

My MAME build goes way back so I haven't tried any of them yet. Judging by the feedback though it seems quite promising, in the main.

Thanks to Drpepper for the notification - I might not have got round to checking in on that scene for another 6 months otherwise. Thanks also to Random_User for the attachments. And of course, respect to Phil Bennett for his work done.

The last time I looked in on SWP emu developments, elcondor was looking at Radio Times Trivia Quiz and Crystal Maze but had encountered a big hurdle when it came to the MPEG decoding. I think there's a comment or two relating to this on the above link. It seems that they may not be beyond the realms of possibilty though. In the meantime, I think the three new emulations are enough to while away a few hundred hours. Fingers crossed then...

P.S. There's mention on the thread of 'Brain Box'. Is that the one with the 'cantankerous professor' at the top of the screen? If it is then that's the name of the machine that has been eluding me for years. From around 1992. The ROMS are there but I don't think the machine has been done yet :( . Still, shouldn't be greedy. I'd just like to know if it's that 'professor' one.

Have got these up and running (you may spot my couple of posts in that FF thread... ;) ).

Been doing well on ESC, yet to try and push the other two. ;)

As I'm never afraid to ask a dumb question...

Do you actually need an old arcade-style cabinet to play these?

Not at all! :)

MAME is just an emulator, which will run on most PC's - do a google and find the latest version (am sure it tells you if you follow the FF link above). Download the Roms and you're ready to go!

I'm still trying to work out some of the buttons, but I'm getting there!

Let me know how you get on... ;)

I download the required MAME version from the suggested site and the zip archive won't open. It gives it as an invalid archive

Anyone any suggestions or give me the link to one that will work.

Duuno how you do it in mame, but there's one in Jim's Chippy in Llandudno if you're interested. Old trick still works too!

Presuming nobody is going to trek down to Jim's chippy, what is the old trick then? Quizvaders is rock hard btw- I can't believe how nails the questions are right from the off as well! Quiz games have gone soft...!

Wasnt there a semi-remake of this recently as well- Alien attack- aliens going across the screen you had to shoot, explosions, etc it didnt last long.
