Monopoly finally plays nice

I've only been on the end game of monopoly about six times and almost every time Ive been offered £1.50 only to gamble and get 50p or £2 max. Tonight i was offered £6. I dealt and the cards were turned to reveal 50p, £1.50 and £4. Which was weird, but satisfying.

Anyone JP'd it yet?

And going off topic, I was just at the best pub quiz ever. All the local quiz teams showed up, meaning me and the mrs had no chance. Round 1 was a nightmare with questions such as "What was the highest chart position Aretha Franklin's RESPECT got to?" (35 apparently, although Google suggests it got to #1).

But the quiz teams were all smiley and content. (I dont grudge these guys their knowledge by the way, its just nice to be in the running to win a quiz for once).

Then comes Round 2 - and if anyone has ever been at a quiz with a round like this then I'd be amazed - The Streetfighter Round. We were shown the first seconds of 5 different clips and asked "who wins the fight?", with most fights being pretty comical.

The look of disgust on their faces when they realised that their far superior knowledge meant nothing in this round was priceless.

I can't compete with that one but I do remember stumbling into the Most Intellectual Quiz in the World at a cracking little place called The Bookbinders in Oxford (as featured in the first ever episode of Inspector Morse, although they used another pub for the interiors). The two rounds we were present for were Constitutional Law and Arithmetic (12 difficult mathematical puzzles). Sadly we had to leave to see a film, as otherwise I was going to dazzle them with the knowledge I gained in my degree course on The Legal Aspects of Long Division...

Sorry I should have said, it was actual footage of proper human fights, but funny ones.

For example search a for "guy and girlfriend v 2 guys" on video sites and youll see one of them. Hilarious.

Think it may be Foxy I have got to a lot of endgames on this and certainly trumps anything I've seen whether as an offer or a card win

I assume you took it.

I've been getting into the end game fairly regularly but have never won more than 3 pounds. The offer is always rubbish and I end up picking the £1.50 card when the other two are say £7.50 and £9. Am I just unlucky?

not unlucky, that is just how the endgame works.
as a rule of thumb i will collect any offer of £3 or above, this game is not going to make anyone rich though.
the three cards are a sham, it is all smoke and mirrors, your prize is already determined before you choose the card and it shows higher values to make you think "bah! if only i'd picked the other one." despite this i still think it is a very good game.

Yes I'm not quite sure what it is about Monopoly but it is highly addictive. Its gotten to the stage where I only go on Deal or No Deal to finance a decent session on monopoly.

Looking at the leaderboard I'm quite staggered about the number of different people that have played this game. Is Monopoly taking over the mantle from Deal or No Deal and Skill Ball Bingo in terms of most played?

I am finding Deal or no Deal a guaranteed loser at the moment. Last time I played I won 10p.

My 'cash machine' is Bullseye. 50p in, £1 out ad infinitum.

Tried to play a quiz machine in Berkshire recently and the landlord told me it wasn't taking my coins because it was "full".

Imagine that - a machine gagging to pay and there's no space in the mechanics to take even the smallest 50p stake. That sounds like utter bollocks to me but I'm still crying over it.

needless to say i did take the £7.50.
continuing the theme of unlikely events i was today dealt £12.50 after months of 10 p's and other garbage.
it would appear that miracles still happen

Dangerous. Monopoly has taken over as the leader on both major terminal suppliers. DOND and Skill Ball kicked off the two top spots. Bullseye and Pub quiz doing well. Most other games that were hyped such as Pub cricket, X Factor not doing the business.

Pub Cricket is all but unplayable on the itbox. The fact that you need precision timing to play it successfully does not suit it to the itbox screens with their variable response times

but paragon doesn't support monopoly v5.0.

anyway that is another matter. good post BC, do you have top 10/20/whatever of played games for any given criteria of time/terminal/supplier?

that would make for an enlightening read

Thought as much. Tis my favourite at the moment by a long shot. Started winning regularly too. Got 1800 points from water works the other day which was cool.
