That's hardly a surprise, unless you're willing to take it as holiday! Which one is it?ROSSKEEN wrote:I only ask cos I applied for one and got an audition next week but my work wont give me the time off!
Your work should give you the time off as annual leave, unless you work in a very small section or if there is some other pressing need that requires you to be there (it is short notice after all), or alternatively if you have no annual leave left for this year you could always apply to take the day as unpaid leave.
What I would say is that auditions are by no means guaranteed to lead to an appearance on the show in question so you would have to consider how keen you were (pardon the pun!) to take part.
Hopefully there is no harm in my advertising another site here as it isn't a direct 'rival' to this one, but you will find lots of useful tips and information on http://www.quizzing.co.uk.

pretending to be thicker than you are and wearing garish clothes for the interview works. and you should be absolutely bang on time but that holds true across distance and time (except restaurants in brazil).
good luck with it.
(n.b. i've been retired from tv shows for 10 years now so the goalposts might have been moved)

Hi guys (and girls?)
Cheers for the responses.
I actually have loads of holiday time left but due to having one professional exam left, I hav to attend training for this and it clashes with the audition date. Spoke to the company and explained it but all the auditions are next week and Im at classes all week.
If it was meant to be it was meant to be.
Apparently its not.b

I've had my ugly mug on tv a few times
Did 15 to 1 back in 1994 (10th one out)
Brainteaser, Nov 2004, won £750 back when it was an all or nothing gamble and I wanted to at least cover the train fare to Bristol
Countdown, Feb 2005, traded puns with Richard Whiteley in his last series. Carol very standoffish. Won Game 1 and then lost Game 2 to overall series winner but did get the larger goody bag for making it into the Champions Chair (albeit briefly)
1vs100, Mar 2007. Spent 3 shows in the 100, closest I got was being 1 of the 10 left and missing out on the "random" selection of the next contestant
Failed auditions for The Peoples Quiz and Perfect Strangers and am waiting to hear about an audition I had last week for "The Great Pretender" a new show hosted by Chris Tarrant
Also have an application form for The Leakest Wink which I just haven't got round to filling in since I asked for it in January time

These things are a bit self-perpetuating.
Once they have your details on file they will contact you again for upcoming pilot shows.
it's a day out, a chance to meet some new people, an opportunity for my workmates to have a go at me for not knowing something "easy" when it's televised and, who knows, maybe the possibility of winning something!
