I was playing a local FatBox last night and a cluster of new games had appeared:

1. That cricket game that UP spotted at ATEI - I didn't play this.

2. 'Treasure Island' - you collect pickaxes by picking grid squares on a map and answering questions. Once you've reached your target number of pickaxes you play the endgame which essentially involves picking squares on a map which may have prizes or may not - you can choose to collect a prize at any time or carry on, losing that prize in the hope of getting better prizes. I passed on a £4 prize and won nothing. Jury's out on this.

3. 'Paparazzi Hangman' - answer questions to get segments of a picture of a 'celeb', and get points for each complete picture. Won a £1 on the first game and this looked moderately diverting.

4. One where you pick three specialists to help you who have expertise in different subjects. You play rounds of about five questions and the specialists indicate whether they know or can guess etc. Occasional bonus rounds and a chance to play a 'Kim's Game' style bonus game to double or quits your prize. Played about five games and won nothing - this looked a really tough game on first appearances.

5. Another with a potential £40 prize which seemed a bit like Pub Quiz. Spoilers started kicking in really early and my one go was over really early - another to avoid, methinks.

Anyone played any of these or can put names to 4 and 5?

I have also just had these games appear in my work local.

My observations as follows:

1. Pub series cricket- this is a pure 'skill' game ie no Q&A. I reckon its probably worth its own thread as it would be interesting to get other people's view on tactics. i have only managed to score 42 (twice) once for £1 and once for £2. Overall its quite tight, difficult and frustrating but somehow strangely addictive.

2. Treasure Island- into the endgame first go and collected on £4 (best offer I think). The end game is a bit like DOND but with a limited number of lives (ie if you pick a square without a box you lose a life- number of lives determined by number opf pickaxes collected to get into endgame).

3. Ditto- easy early quids but after that poor. Double or quits "bonus" round a waste of time.

4. All Star Team I think its called. I tend to select specialists in those subject areas that I like and then choose those subject categories so that if there is one you dont know there is effectively a reveal answer. Again easy £3 but then more questions per round and qs themeselves seemed to get harder.

5. Super Bar Quiz?- As you say like pub quiz but with bonus rounds in which bonus is awarded for getting through the round without using pass/ try again. After a couple of low wins, the prize ladder soon became ridiculously elongated.

PS You haven't been doing the pubs of Fleet Street Monday/ Tuesday lunchtime have you?

i saw the new games yesterday off oxford street. impressed by the graphics but not so much the gameplay. and one of them has ousted word up which is fundamentally wrong.

the questions seemed very, very easy; perhaps just to reel in the punters at the start.

i'm getting better at the cricket game but how do you get the 500 bonus? (or is this just a default on the hiscore table?) it is annoying when you fluff a shot and it dribbles to a fielder but he still catches it despite the laws of physics dictating that there is no way it carried.
