test mode

Recently there has been a machine on 'test mode' in a local Wetherspoons. On three days it gave me a certain £20 jackpot on battleships (something like 5 try agains, 6 passes, sonar, intelligence and generally replacing bonuses that were used). It only let me do this once each time and paid out without any problem - other games were playing 'soft' but only for a few £3 or £4 wins. The first time I didn't expect it to pay out to be honest - the second time someone was watching me thinking that I was the best player of all time :-) I briefly appeared on the leaderboard with over 100 hits but my name and score didn't stay there, so my chance to be top man forever disappeared.

Happy days while it lasted.

Wow, very nice.

I understand test mode usually implies no payout, but seemingly not in this case. Not seen anything like this before...

Likewise. I'm sure we've all been disappointed before by this sort of thing, where the easy winnings actually turn out to be uncollectable. The only time I've encountered one that actually paid out was when I was dreaming (see also: pubs with half a dozen quiz machines in a row).

I think it said 'Demo - Door Open'. Funny thing is after the first day it was switched off, then after that working normally, but it went back to 'demo' a couple more times later in the week. I honestly think others must have been collecting small wins, or not taking advantage in a similar way. Incidentally the same machine dumped all it's £1 coins when I collected a fiver a few months ago too (about £60 i think)! It's still there and working normally now (spoilers for £2 etc), but I have a look each time I pass!

I've experienced this a couple of times in the last year. Once took about £80 out until it went on the blink. Was amazed to return six weeks later and it happen again.

Next time you're passing could you see what version of the menu software it's running (bottom right hand corner of the menu screen). I'm expecting it to be v1.3A - if it's v1.4 (released a few months ago) then that's more interesting as I'd assumed the update was to fix this issue.

once upon a time there was a SWP/roulette hybrid machine in gala casino bayswater which would reset itself after every game: quite easy to be joseph jagger under those circumstances.

Skill quest machine

reset hundreds by "toggling" in top left corner of touchscreen to enter menu and 0000 was the passcode, take the 80 reset value and repeat.

That was a nice big month before things got too warm ;)

I've noticed these machines are now widely being updated with a new red v2.x menu along with (I think) the v33 games release see on the Eggs.

I think this may have finally fixed the issue (which v1.4 didn't) as I saw one running something similar months back and it had correctly detected something wasn't right, displayed a message of its own and disabled the coin accepter.
