Best quiz machine Q ever?

Post by Drpepper »

Got this on a Pub Quiz machine, not sure if it's amazing foresight or comedy genius, either way was too busy laughing to take a pic...

"What did Oscar Pistorius compete at at the London 2012 Olympics?"

Hockey
Athletics
Shooting

lol. They might have done it on purpose, there's some odd questions out there.
I personally have never come across this one when playing, but I heard one quiz machine game has a question category called "Banned Categories", with one of the possible answers being "Idiots of Fruit-Chat" or something. :0
Dont know if its true tho.

Heaven knows, and it was 25 years ago! The Barquest compilers also had an obsession with "Quantro" (Cointreau), "Kevin Kossner" and "Joy Davidson" (Division). How many ounces has an octahedron? :)

I'm going to guess eight ounces, although I'm sure you get some really heavy ones as well.

Answer: Meat.
Until I read this post, it honestly never occurred to me that there had been a cock up with this question. I had just assumed that MEAT was perhaps some acronym for an obscure Belgian airline from the past, or maybe Sabena, when translated into English, had some tenuous connection to meat! This Highlights the dangers of not cross-referencing "facts" you learn when playing quiz machines.

I really should stop accepting things at face value. For a number of years I thought that Paul Simon was quite a tall bloke who looked a bit like Chevy Chase.....

Is airline a typo of export? Or is that question something I really don't understand?

On reflection that question set had a number of questions about principle exports, so perhaps there is some cross-jumbling. It was 25 years ago I'm afraid, can't be more specific.

More recent question which amuses me: I might not be quoting verbatim, but the gist of it is - "In which sport did Alex Ferguson compete formally?" I have visions of him on the football field in dinner jacket and tie..

Yeah that's on Pints make Prizes.

Anyone play Footy Quiz on the GamesNet machines on here? That's got some amusing options on there. My favourite is "When did Scotland last reach the World cup final." Options were 1982, 1978 and You cannot be serious.

You cannot be serious is of course the correct answer!
