Battleships, money shot round.. ever work first time??

Had a quick go on battleships to mix things up the other day and found that every time I went to take the 'shot' where the gun turret rotates and aims for the money, it always missed...
Is the game programmed to miss the shot in this round more often than not regardless to when you hit the button?

Nope. Like most novice players, you've probably played it twice and deduced that it does it 'every' time.

I've hit the £4 and £5 values on a first shot - however - the majority of the time I might hit the £1 value 4 shots in. I have also seen it go through all 9 shots and not even hit a value, resulting in a game over.
Wouldn't worry too much about your aim neither, I'm pretty sure there is no skill involved.
