I have looked for a thread on this and can't find one, so apologies if this has been covered already.

Just been to a pub near me and the Gamesnet machine there has been updated with quite a few new games. Not impressed with them (altough did not play them).

3 of them were word games (good news for you word fans):

Bookworm: Look's like the same sort of thing as Word up, not my cup of tea.

Word: Virtually the same as above?!

and one more which I can't remember the name but probably very simlilar!

Other games were:

Take it or Leave it: £1 play answer 10 questions, opening vaults (some booby prizes) and then onto a final cash round. Was tempted with this one but for £1 I didn't want to find out it was like Big Reds and othered you 28p etc, so will leave to someone else to find out and report back.

Simon Says: Who knows what is going on here, the info said you have to do as Simon says and there is a reject button if Simon does not say it?? Completely different graphics and gameplay but seems very similar to Skill Ball Bingo etc (not for me).

New Battleships: Already been covered in previous visit to GW thread.

There may of been one more I missed but all in all did not look good (or appeal to me). To make matters worse, Hex, Fantasy Footie and 1 vs 100 have made way...... Not sure what games developers are trying to do but good old Quiz question type games are just disappearing.

Stuck to JP Sports Quiz and Nuts and managed to come away £1 up after about 30 mins playing (which, is good for me!!)

Let me know if any of you have played these and your opinions.

I'm still to see a Gamesnet with Bookworm, whereabouts was this? Word is diverting enough. Simon Says is so far past my skill level it's embarrassing.

I was playing the new Take It Or Leave It the other day in the vain hope of finding some profit. Unbelievably, it still features the spoiler from the first iteration of the game, in that I was given no lives to start with and, after three questions, I managed to pick two booby prizes in a row. So I won't be playing that again.

Think Battleships has been discussed: looks nice enough, but I'll be surprised if I ever make more than £2 on it.

Bookworm has its fans amongst the word experts, and rightly so I'd have said - it seems a decent enough game of its type. It's not a new game but a reissue of one from a few years ago with little if any modification as I understand it (although I stand to be corrected on this).

Take It or Leave It is a desecration of a pretty good game - in the original version you won the accumulated prize from the 10 cash boxes if you then got the five prize questions correct. In this version however you only win one of the five prize boxes so you might well answer 15 non-trivial questions correctly to win something like £1.80 for your £1 stake. In other words it's utter rubbish.

Overall the Gamesnet as it stands now is basically beyond redemption. Two or three years ago it was the market leader in terms of games selection; now it isn't worth crossing even a small pub for. Very sad to see.

I tried Simple Simon. Twice. Thought I was getting the hang of it until I realized it was a con and once you get past a couple of levels its impossible.

Messed around with Bounty Hunter a bit too...got to endgame which again is utterly impossible.

I don't know why they bother putting games on where its impossible to win anything on them.

Why is that? Were people doing well on it? I remember it being a popular game first time round.

The neutered TIOLI's been around for a fair old while on the Gamesnet although as Nil Satis says it is absolute dross, and a far cry from the brilliance of the original TIOLI title (which can still be found very occasionally on outdated Gamesnets).

unfortunately the greater the availabilty=greater the playability- with few sites the original TIOLI can bite back be very frustrating and waste a lot of time.A very similar game to TIOLI2 is Bakers Dozen on OPENS.

Yep, played this for the first time the other night having had plenty of £8-£10 wins on the older version.

Built up a prize fund of £17.80 only for box one to offer £3.20, box two to offer £3.40 and then I lost.

They've ruined a perfectly good game.

Agreed Cool - it's definitely one of those games where you have to be prepared to have two or three kicks in the teeth before getting a decent haul. I find, though, that even after all this time my question knowledge on it remains reasonably good, so for me it's worth a £1 if I see it.

Bookworm: I'm laughing all the way to the bank. Mind you it's hard work walking with that much coinage. And embarrassing when you have to make more than one visit per day. Best game since the original super gold run.

I am a Little confused by the original posters comments about some of the NEW games on the gamesnet machine but he did say he had not played them.

1 BOOKWORM, It is a word game that much is true but it isnt like WORD UP
2 WORD, yes a word game but is not like Bookworm and this game is an old release i believe and isnt on the latest gamesnet release.
3 The other word game you could not remember will be WORD SOUP which again isnt new
4 TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT you were maybe spot on with this as it can be mean at the end even though you managed to accumulate a good total of potential prize money for the end game.
5 SIMON SAYS, A Lot more to this than any bingo game and more geared for multi play for fun than a serious earner.

The other games that you mention that dont appear to be there are probably switched off by request because people are not playing them,i cant see the point in turning off games that are earners for developers.

Also, I played one today in a pub i always do well in. Monopoly has reverted back to the 50p/£20 jp, prize pyramids unplayable even though the price of play has doubled, triple towers wouldnt let me get to a single prize and hex was just shocking (8 £1 plays and not even a bonus, sometimes after answering 10+ boards. i think this has been mentioned before).

Now i know this unit hasnt been raped on these games, and yet another pub has been wiped off my list of pleasant ways to spend an afternoon.

With the proliferation of gameswankhouse 'paragon'? in this neck of the woods there is not a different mc to be seen. I have one indi ex which is a real challenge but enjoyable.

Before anyone mocks me for my choice of games i play for fun and free beer, not profit. Numerous 1 mill scores on triple towers, 2x400k on prize elevens and monopoly £1 stake is my favorite game, which with perseverance, usually turns into a profit( best on this £26 deal and £19 cashpot in same game )


Why would anyone want to play C&R or John Prattot over this?


Oh, and Septre took away an It Box in a place i used to play and replaced it with . .
