I've also finally managed a qualifying score - 1990 in Bar Radio on Monday - but for some reason it hasn't shown up on the leaderboards I've seen since. I definitely entered a legit name and mobile number, so I don't really know why it's not up there yet, any ideas?

More pleasing was the fact that the 1990 was based on an absolute peach of a word - EXPLOITATIVELY (574/14), which replaces QUIXOTICALLY as my best ever non-QUIZZ/TRANQ word and is, as far as I know, the 6th best ever word that's only been got once, if you see what I mean.

Still awaiting a 2050+ in the tournament though, and that's the main goal, but I'm now a bit worried that if I do get a monster score, it won't show up on the board...

i played the old version on a paragon yesterday. six games before i could clear and no 11+ words i found myself playing like a robot just worrying about getting Qs and ZZs close. there is more to life than that bloody lexeme. it is a pity that i won't have time to make a more considered comment before the tournament is over, but please, please bring back the old wordlist.
Word Up should be a game about words not repetitious attrition (which is vulgar) or profiteering (which is worse).
nobody ever wins on those things.

I can lay claim to one of the 'unknown' entries on the scoreboard. According to the tournament organisers, the 1990 attributed to the Jubilee Oak in Crawley is infact mine, attributed to my mobile number, despite the fact that my name is missing and that the location is about 400 miles out. I think it may be because the Jubilee Oak was where I entered my mobile number for the first ever time though - the name does ring a bell.

In other news, an infuriating and expensive attempt at a top 10 tournament score availed me nothing today other than my first 39-word clearance (1211) when I got a no-ZQXJ grid. EWQ I have a barrage of updates for the website (all on the new game) but I'm saving them for a monster email at the end of the tournament.

i think the top scores are accredited to whichever pub you first entered your mobile number. regardless of where you were playing it to record the highscore.

re 39. this has become really easy now (if you can be bothered to go for it)

but it doesn't matter anyway. Bob has recruited some more hangers-on. the bar is now at 20xx for 50th place. :|

(with the possible exception of one score in liverpool) all the top 50 now have one thing in common.

hmm.

How much does the Bob Squad stand to win? (i.e. what is the total sum of the prizes for 1st place through to 50th)?
