ah Mr Bob, it seems you are less wladimir klitschko, more fraudley harrison. but fair play to you for struggling past a herculean 411 in the second game.
when will your management team let you have a real title fight (i.e. against the mighty pseudonym)?

in other news, i had a decent weekend of 4x11, 2x12, 1x13, 1x14 (all new words, none of that QUINTESSENTIAL rubbish) and a new scoring 9 in PIZZICATO. Ernest has the minutiae for website purposes.

the swearingest words are in the pic below. (5 and 6 on the board.)

Thanks for giving us the co-ordinates - I might not have spotted those beauties without them - good work!

Oh yes

I'm pretty good at Word Up with a couple of pals but I always seem to just nick 4/5 quid then leave it without going for the big scores.....

anyway. i'm gonna claim a new world record for the lowest 11: ASSASSINATE, 154. technically i'm tied with Fotherz at the bottom but after goal difference, everybody knows it goes down to alphabetical order, so i win. also it was on a boat on the mighty Thames so i get (negative) bonus points for that too.

EWQ, belated thanks for updating the 'letters owned' table. To celebrate, I've claimed the top-scoring and longest letter 'L' word by sticking an 'S' onto UPs previous record holder, getting LIQUIDATIONS (408/12) as part of a 1832 solo clearance in The Inn, Bearsden. The only other website entry to report is SQUALLIEST (300) in the same session.

Worstest word-score per length
11: 154 (Fotherz/UP)
12: 228 (VB/EWQ*2/Seda/UP)
13: 260 (EWQ*3/Fotherz/VB)
14: 308 (VB)
15: 405 (UP)
16: 464 (EWQ)
17: 510 (UP)
18: 594 (Fotherz/EWQ)

Therefore I'm the best (i.e. worst (or vice versa)).
I got my 'O' with ONOMATOPOEIAS. Filthy as a plural, but nice word.

PS: solo 2219 today. Third best score ever. Eat my dust Fotherz, Bob and Bob's brother, that clown from Nottingham, Angie, Reaps, Bob on his own, unknown.

Motivated by the thought of how sour UP would be if I beat him in the alphabet game, I decided to foregoe grid-clearage and quid-grabbage to get some more letters out of the way. I singled out one or two particular target words for each letter, that had fairly common component letters.

At the start of the outing I needed JKLWXY (having got 'O' earlier today, see above).

To begin with I thought I'd have a better chance of getting more of the common letters on the old version of the game. However, I was let down by the limited dictionary: JEALOUSNESS and WATERCOOLER were not accepted. In annoyance I switched to the new version:

KETTLEDRUMS and LACERATIONS were comfortably made, but then WATERCOOLER was again disallowed. Thankfully the backup WASHERWOMAN worked, and also YESTERYEARS. But XENOPHOBIAS failed, so I still need JX.

So be warned unknown, I will be going for these over the next few days...

I also got a few nice by-product words on fruitless grids that didn't help the alphabet challenge: ENCYCLOPAEDIA, DEMILITARIZED, and MOTHERFUCKER.

MOTHERFUCKER?! Who'd have thought it! Big congratulations on 2219 as well EWQ, that's a pretty spectacular score.

Slightly less spectacularly, I got my first 14-letter word today - TRANQUILLISERS (518/14) as ANGIE DOD (players AR/DO'D) in The Counting House.
Also today - QUIZZING in the Counting House and FANATICALLY in The Sir John Moore, both solo.
